The Syrian government troops successfully repelled a massive attack by the opposition forces that lasted several days. The attack was on a key military base in the northeastern suburb of Damascus. Earlier, the militants of Akhrar al-Sham, Tahrir al-Sham and Failak Ar-Rahman launched a coordinated offensive against the Vehicle control base, which is located between the cities of Harast and Irbin in the Eastern Ghouta region. The Islamists seized the northern posts of the base and began its envelopment, but a few days later the Syrian army managed to regain all the lost positions by pulling large reinforcements in Harast.


Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed Al Saud, said that most of the arrested Saudi princes and businessmen accused of corruption agreed to pre-trial settlement and transfer of part of their fortunes to the state, which altogether amounts to about $ 100 billion. On Friday early in the morning in Manikpur (Utgar Pradesh, India) a high-speed train came off rails. Three people died, 8 others were injured. A total of 13 wagons came off. The movement of trains on the Patna-Allahabad route was stopped. The Ministry of Railway Transport ordered to pay 500 thousand rupees compensation to the relatives of the deceased.


On November 24, a new president of Kyrgyzstan, Sooronbai Jeenbekov, officially took office. At the inauguration ceremony, Jeenbekov voiced the country’s foreign policy plans. «The course to strengthen the strategic partnership with Russia will be continued. We will also continue systematic co-operation with Turkey and the United States, «he said. Also, the new president intends to develop partnership with China, Central Asian countries, Japan, Mongolia, Iran, Pakistan, the European Union and Arab countries.
