Russian air defenses repelled a terrorist attack on Khmeimim

1 Syria

The air defense systems of the Russian air base Khmeimim, located in Syria, repelled an attack of six UAVs, launched by the terrorists. “The AA weapons of the Russian air base destroyed all 6 terrorist UAVs at safe distances. There were no injuries or material damage” — the Russian Defense Ministry announced. The air defense forces constantly repel the terrorist attacks on the Russian air base in Syria. On 8th of August the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the terrorists fired 4 rockets from an MLRS at Khmeimim.

2 Pakistan

On Sunday, Pakistan began sending its military equipment to the Indian border — the Indian news agency ANI reports while citing their government sources. It was reported that on Sunday, 3 Pakistani C-130 cargo planes delivered military equipment to the Skardu military base, located near the Indian region of Ladakh, RIA NEWS reports. According to the sources in the Indian Government — the delivered weapons could be used to support the air strikes — similar to those air strikes that were carried out on the Indian part of Kashmir back in February. On 5th of August the Indian President Ram Nath Kovind signed a decree that abolished the special status of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, which was previously enshrined in the article number 370 of the fundamental law of India. After that — Pakistan lowered its level of the diplomatic relations with India, and announced an intention to appeal to the UN Security Council.

3 Turkey — Russia

After Washington expelled Turkey from the F-35 program, Ankara began considering an option of buying the Russian Su-35 multipurpose fighters — Interfax reports while citing the Turkish newspaper ‘Yeni Shafak’. According to the newspaper — the Turkish governmental employees, responsible for the procurement for the Turkish army, turned to the military command with a request to consider a purchase of the Su-35s. Ankara will begin the official negotiations with the Russian company ‘Rosoboronexport’ only if the Turkish military command approves the purchase of the Su-35s. Earlier, the head of the Russian state-owned corporation ‘Rostech’ Sergei Chemezov announced that Russia is ready to work on the details of the possible sale of Su-35s to Turkey.

4 Venezuela

The Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido announced that the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro is about to dissolve the National Assembly and announce new parliamentary elections. “Tomorrow they plan to announce the dissolution of the parliament, and illegally announce the holding of elections, as well as begin a mass persecution of the deputies” — Juan Guaido explained in his video message on Twitter. Earlier, after the introduction of the new sanctions by the US, the Venezuelan government refused to participate in negotiations with the opposition. The negotiations were planned for 8th and 9th of August. On 6th of August Donald Trump signed a decree that blocked all the Venezuelan property that lies under the US jurisdiction.
