A missile attack on Stepanakert

1 Armenia — Azerbaijan

The press secretary of the Armenian Defense Ministry, Shushan Stepanyan, reported on Facebook that the situation on the frontline in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone was tense during the night. «The situation on the contact line was constantly tense at night. The operational-tactical situation did not change. Skirmishes and artillery battles took place in some sectors of the frontline» — Stepanyan concluded. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense reported that fierce battles took place in Nagorno-Karabakh region during the last night and morning. «From the second half of 8th of October until the morning of 9th of October the intense fighting continued along the entire frontline» — the report stated. It was noted that the Armenian forces suffered losses in man power and military equipment.

2 Nagorno-Karabakh

The representative of the Armenian Defense Ministry, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, reported on Facebook about a missile attack on the capital of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. «The city of Stepanakert was once again hit by a missile attack» — Hovhannisyan reported. Explosions were reportedly heard outside of Stepanakert.

3 Azerbaijan-Armenia

The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan reported that the Armenian troops shelled the settlements in 3 regions around the Nagorno-Karabakh region. «The enemy is firing at the territory of Goranboy, Terter, and Aghdam regions» — the report stated. The ministry added that the Azerbaijani army «is taking adequate measures».

4 Russia

The Kremlin press service reported that the Russian President Vladimir Putin called on the parties of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh to stop the hostilities. The Russian President invited the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan to Moscow in order to discuss the exchange of PoWs and the bodies of those killed during the conflict. «After a series of telephone conversations with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, the Russian President calls for an end to the hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, for both the humanitarian reasons and in order to exchange the bodies of the dead and prisoners. The foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia are invited to Moscow on 9th of October in order to hold consultations on these issues with the mediation of the Russian Foreign Minister” — the Kremlin press service concluded.

5 Kyrgyzstan

The press service of the State Committee of the National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported that the ministry called on the citizens of the country to join efforts in order to stabilize the socio-political situation in the country. The ministry called on the representatives of the political forces to «sit down at the negotiating table, and come to a consensus on the early establishment of legitimate institutions of power». Earlier the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sooronbai Jeenbekov, called on all political forces in the country to not split the society. He stated that he is ready to leave the presidential post «after the legitimate leaders of the executive authorities are approved, and the country takes path of legality» — end of quote.

6 Kyrgyzstan

The press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported that the president Sooronbai Jeenbekov signed a decree on an introduction of a state of emergency on the territory of Bishkek from 20:00 of 9th of October. «The state of emergency on the territory of the city of Bishkek of the Kyrgyz Republic will last from 20:00 of 9th of October, 2020, till 08:00 on 21st of October, 2020» — a message on the press service website stated. The Deputy Minister of the Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Almazbek Orozaliev, was appointed as the commandant of the capital.
