A missile strike on Aleppo province
The ’Al Sumaria’ TV reported that on Monday evening, an Iraqi Armed Forces base, which houses the US troops, came under rocket fire. At least 5 rockets hit the outskirts of the ’Balad’ air base, located in in the Salah al-Din province, north of Baghdad. The rockets exploded in the desert. There were no casualties or destructions.
The ’Al-Hadath’ TV reported that several oil tankers with Syrian oil were destroyed as a result of rocket and artillery strikes near the city of Jerabulus, near the Syrian-Turkish border. Warehouses with oil products in the border villages of Hamran and Tarkhib were attacked as well. It was noted that the pro-Turkish groups of the Syrian opposition had casualties. The ’Anadolu’ news agency reported that the Turkish Defense Ministry has accused Syria of launching a missile attack on two settlements in the Ankara-controlled part of the Aleppo province. It was noted that Turkey has notified Russia of the need to prevent such attacks from Syria.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated at a briefing after the talks with the Swedish Foreign Minister and the current OSCE Chairwoman, Ann Linde, that Azerbaijan, in accordance with the obligations, handed over all PoWs to Armenia. He added that Azerbaijan began to transfer the PoWs before Armenia, during the war. While speaking about the Armenian servicemen, currently held by Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov explained that they aren’t considered PoWs since they weren’t detained during the recent war.
The ’SANA’ news agency reported that the Syrian air defenses have repelled an aggressive missile attack by the Israeli Air Forces. The attack was launched from the occupied Golan Heights on the Syrian military positions and facilities to the south of Damascus. A communiqué from the command of the Syrian troops stated that the Syrian air defenses «managed to repel the attack of the Israeli air forces, and hit most of the incoming missiles». It was noted that as a result of the attack by the Israeli Air Force only material damage took place. There were no casualties or injuries.
The deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in Syria, Alexander Karpov, stated that the settlements of Al-Mualak, Jebel and Seida, located in the Ain Isa district of the Raqqa province, are blocked for the return of locals. He explained that the settlements were blocked by the decision of the Turkish high command «because of the fighting between the Turkish troops and the Kurdish groups». Alexander Karpov underlined that the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the Warring Parties calls on the command of the Turkish troops, controlling the north of Syria, to ensure the possibility of a return of civilians back to their homes.
The Turkish Ministry of National Defense reported about a missile attack on the Kilis province from the Syrian side. «The missiles, launched from Syria, fell on empty lands in Kilis» — the Turkish Defense Ministry stated on Twitter. It was noted that no-one was injured as a result of the attack. Russia was reportedly notified about the attack as well. The Turkish army opened fire on the launch site of the missiles. The Turkish Defense Ministry reported that the Turkish troops, stationed in the region, were notified about the attack, and they are monitoring the situation.
