An exchange of PoWs took place in Donbass

The LPR and Kiev completed the first exchange of PoWs in this year in Donbass. The exchange was completed according to the plan «11 to 4». The first similar exchange of PoWs took place between Kiev and the DPR as well. Kiev gave 10 persons to Donetsk — Donetsk gave 9 people to Kiev.

The village of Spartak is located near the city of Donetsk, close to the Donetsk Airport. During this week the locals have noted an increase of the number of the shellings, and an increase in the caliber of the ammunition used by the Ukrainian troops.

On 13th of April an operational report was released on the website of the special monitoring mission of the OSCE. The report mentioned a shelling of the railway station in the village of Yasinovataya during a routine monitoring done by the Mission patrols — the goal was to keep an eye on the security situation around the Donetsk water filtering station. According to the report — the shelling was, allegedly, carried out from the south — from the territory controlled by the People’s Militia of the DPR. In order to conduct an investigation of the violation of the ceasefire — the task force of the DPR Representation, presented in the joint center for the monitoring and coordination, visited the area and recorded all the details of the shelling for the further analysis. As a result — an investigation was conducted, during which the direction of the shelling and the type of the used weapons were established.

On 14th of April, at about 8 a.m., the Ukrainian troops opened fire on the residential sector of the village of Staromikhailovka from the weaponry of a BMP-2. As a result of the shelling 13 houses were damaged.

During this week the Ukrainian forces once again impeded the work of UAVs of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission near the village of Troitsky by using EW military hardware. This was reported in the press service of the People’s Militia of the LPR. These facts were are also confirmed by the OSCE mission itself.

«The Ukrainian authorities are unable to agree on the new areas of the withdrawal of the military forces and assets in Donbass» — said Oleg Onopko, the deputy of the People’s Council of the DPR, during this week. On 11th of April the Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky visited the frontline positions of the Ukrainian army near the area of removal of the military forces and assets »Petrovskoye-Bogdanovka». During his visit he mentioned some on-going work on the coordination of the new sections for the withdrawal of troops in Donbass. “Zelensky can announce those sections as many times as he wants. Until Kiev forces their own radicals to obey the orders — these withdrawals of troops will be, at best, his populist statements” — Oleg Onopko noted. He added that the Ukrainian delegation ignored all the proposals from the Republics regarding the withdrawal of military forces and assets in the region during the recent negotiations in Minsk.
