April was the most deadly month for the civilians in Yemen this year so far, a UN briefing announced. During that month, at least 236 civilians were killed in the country, and another 238 were wounded. This is twice the number of victims recorded in March. In April, the Arab coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, sharply increased the intensity of air strikes against Yemen. In particular — the strikes at the government area of Sana, as a result of which the leader of the hussite part of Yemen, Saleh al-Samad, was killed. The UN expressed doubts that Saudi troops and their allies follow the precautionary and proportionality principles, prescribed by international military agreements for the sake of minimizing civilian casualties.
