 James Mattis, the head of the Pentagon, made a statement that the US troops prevented a fight with the Russians in Syria. James Matties explained that Russian units moved along the line of de-limitation to the east of the Euphrates River — to the territory where the both sides can conduct operations. However — the Russians came a bit too close to the positions of US soldiers. According to James Mattis, the Chairman of the Committee of the Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, General John Danforth, contacted the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, and shortly after — Russians retreated. Mattis does not mention when exactly this happened. Currently, the US military forces are staying in Syria on illegal basis, and the government of Bashar Assad seeks the means for their expulsion.

The US State Department admits that they did not receive any evidence of Moscow’s involvement in the poisoning of Sergei Skripal from London. According to the head of the press service of the US State Department, Heather Nauert, Washington took for granted the British allegations of Russian responsibility for the incident in Salisbury. She admitted that she had not seen any evidence on this case, and later referred to the State Department’s lack of «access to this kind of information.» According to her, if the evidence was sent, it was sent not to the State Department, but to other structures, and then she recommended to contact the US Intelligence Agency about this matter.

The deputy of Russian Minister of Emergency Situations Vladlen Aksenov announced that there are no missing people left after fire in the shopping center «Winter Cherry» in the city of Kemerovo. During an interview, he said that «According to our information, there are no missing people after the fire. We do not have information about the relatives who do not know where their loved ones are.» — end of quote. The remains of 64 people (among them 41 children), were transferred to the Investigative Committee. At the moment, 27 bodies are identified. The German authorities, in the typical manner of the policy of double standards, right after the expelling of Russian diplomats spoke in favor of continuing the political dialogue with Moscow. A member of the European Parliament, Manfred Weber, said that «those who talk about easing the sanctions against Russia — weaken our positions, and the position of Europe itself». But he immediately spoke in favor of finding new channels for a dialogue with the Kremlin. The German governmental representative for the cooperation with Russia, Gernot Erler, expressed a hope that there will be no escalation of tensions between the two countries in this situation.

In the DPR, over the past day, Ukrainian troops have fired 293 shells at the front-line areas of the Republic, thus violating the ceasefire agreement 12 times. The shelling was aimed at the west of Donetsk and its northern suburbs, on towns of Yasinovatoy and Dokuchaevsk, as well as the villages of Sakhanka, Sosnovsky and October in the south of DPR. In addition, the Ukrainian forces used artillery on the village of Zaitsevo in the north of Gorlovka. As a result — one apartment building was damaged. According to the local administration — about 40 shells hit the village.

The Ukrainian troops fired at LPR positions once over the past day. This was reported in the defense department of the Republic. The fire came from the direction of the town Luganskoye. Logvinovo village was under fire. During the shelling, mortars, weaponry of IFVs and automatic grenade launchers were used.
