1 Libya The Libyan National Army under the leadership of Marshal Khalifa Haftar launched the second stage of the attack on the Libyan capital of Tripoli — RIA NEWS reports with a reference on the statement of the deputy of parliament in the Libyan city of Tobruk — Ali al-Qaidi. Earlier, the Libyan National Army declared that the first stage of the attack on Tripoli was successful. On 4th of April the commander of the Libyan National Army, Khalifa Haftar, ordered his forces to launch an offensive on Tripoli in order to «liberate it from the terrorists». The troops in Tripoli, loyal to the Government of National Consent, announced the start of a response operation, “Vulcan of Wrath”. According to the World Health Organization, nearly 1,050 people died as a result of the fighting for Tripoli. Over 5,500 people were injured.
2 Syria
Reporters of ANNA NEWS report: A flight of a P8A ‘Poseidon’ radio-electronic surveillance aircraft of the US Air Forces was detected over the eastern part of the Mediterranean coast. The P8A took off from the US Sigonella airbase. The airplane flew over the Syrian coast, in the airspace near the province of Latakia, where the Russian Air Force Base ‘Hmeimim’ is located. Over the past month, there has been an increased number of sorties of the US scout planes over the coasts.
3 Syria
The aviation of the anti-terrorist coalition, led by the United States, attacked the settlement of Ez-Zer, in the Syrian province of Deir-ez-Zor -TASS reports with a reference to the SANA agency. According to the SANA — as a result of the airstrike, there are dead and injured civilians. The SANA agency does not specify their number.
4 the Persian
Gulf The HMS destroyer ‘Duncan’ entered the Persian Gulf in order to escort the British ships during the on-going escalation of the relations with Iran — Interfax reports with a reference to the BBC. The British frigate HMS Montrose is already in the bay. According to the British Ministry of Defense — the UK destroyer have escorted through the Strait of Hormuz 35 ships by now. Those ships sailed under the British flag. The British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace announced that London continues to seek a diplomatic resolution of the situation. The Royal Navy meanwhile will continue to escort the ships for the time being, in order to fully guarantee the free movement and the safety of ships in the region.
5 Armenia — Azerbaijan
The Armenian Ministry of Defense announced the death of a soldier that died from a shelling in the north-eastern part of the borderline with Azerbaijan — RIA NEWS reports. A day earlier, the Armenian Defense Ministry reported that a soldier was wounded on the same area. At the beginning of April of 2016, Armenia and Azerbaijan announced an escalation of the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone. On 5th of April of 2016, a truce came into force in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. The agreement was reached at the talks in Moscow. Later, both parties have repeatedly accused each other in violation of the cease-fire.
6 Ukraine
Alexander Danilyuk, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, announced the intention of the new administration to fundamentally reform the Security Service of Ukraine. According to him, without reforming the security sector in general, and the Security Service of Ukraine in particular, the other reforms do not make sense, since this service is traditionally built into various areas. According to Alexander Danilyuk, the Security Service of Ukraine should become more powerful, but in its key area — in the counter-intelligence. The additional functions, such as the fighting of corruption, or some economic activities, should be taken away from the service.
