Frank-Walter Steinmeier, The president of Germany, believes that the dissolution of a nuclear deal with Iran could lead to a war. Steinmeier, in an interview with German mass media, remembered the words of former US Secretary of State John Kerry, who said during the signing of the treaty with Iran the following: «It should be clear to us that by this signature we probably have prevented a war. We must remember what could happen if this agreement collapses, and a new stage of the arms race begins in the Middle East.» — Deutche Welle quotes Steinmeier.
The president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia, Alexis Rodzianko, believes that the delay of sanctions against RUSAL is the result of negotiations between US companies and the US authorities. In addition, according to Rodzianko, the new sanctions against Russia are causing more damage to the US economy than to the Russian businessman, Oleg Deripaska, who is affected by them. Earlier the US announced that they could lift sanctions against RUSAL if Deripaska abandons the control over the company. In the Kremlin such actions of the USA against RUSAL were described as economic harassment.
Vladimir Putin, re-elected to a new presidential term, took office as the head of state. The inauguration ceremony took place in the Grand Kremlin Palace. Vladimir Putin, who had 76.69% of the votes, won in the presidential elections in Russia on 18th of March with a significant margin.
Ukrainian forces fired at the LPR positions six times over the past day. The areas of settlements Kalinovo and Donetsk, villages of Logvinovo, Zhelobok and Prishib were under fire. Artillery, mortars of various calibers, weapons of IFVs and grenade launchers were used in the shelling.
n the DPR, over the past day, Ukrainian troops violated the ceasefire regime 16 times, firing 325 shells at the front-line regions of the Republic. The northern outskirts of Donetsk; Yasinovataya and its surroundings — Krutaya Balka and Vasilyevka were hit. Gorlovka and the surrounding villages — Zaitsevo, Mikhailova, Dolomitnoe, and also Dokuchaevsk and Stila were under fire. Mortars, grenade launchers and small arms were used during the shelling.
The United States forbid the Ukrainian military from using Javelin missile systems, delivered to Ukraine, in the war zone in the Donbas. This was told by Deputy Minister for Refugees, Georgy Tuk. Earlier Moscow repeatedly criticized the supply of lethal weapons to Kiev. According to experts, the United States have made such restriction to avoid worsening of Russian-American relationship, and the transfer itself was carried out for the sake of advertising and demonstration of power.
