Deir ez Zor under siege

This movie is a plea for salvation of Deir Ez Zor. ANNA News has been raising this issue since December 2015. We made 6 trips to the besieged city and had four of our reporters injured. We saw unbearable sufferings, starvation and terror, but also glimpses of hope and desperate courage of its inhabitants.On June 22-23, we sent this documentary and our covering letters to the Western leaders: Donald Trump, Emmanuel Macron, Angela Merkel, Pope Francis. Afterwards we had some private screenings and discussions with experts and journalists.

We are glad to know that the basic theses of our letters were eventually backed by Macron’s statements and G20 resolution. As soon as the G20 summit had ended, we sent requests for help for the citizens of besieged Deir Ez Zor again. The words of support were received, but in practice the task of city liberation was solely carried by the Syrian army and Russian Air Force.

We were there when ISIS threatened to slaughter Deir Ez Zor population. We were there when the city water station was bombed. We were there and filmed everything we saw. And now, in this movie, we are presenting to you our previously unpublished material with great sympathy for the heroic city of Deir Ez Zor.
