Escalation of the situation on the border of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan
1 the USA
Donald Trump announced that the attacks on the Saudi oil facilities likely point to Iran. An investigation is still ongoing. According to him, the US don’t want to enter the war with Iran, but the hostilities from the USA would be a proportional response to the attack on the Saudi oil refineries. He underlined that the US, more than any other country in the history of mankind, are ready for a possible conflict. Donald Trump added that Washington intends to discuss the situation with the countries of the region. He agrees with the US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, who accused Tehran of attacking the Saudi oil refineries. The US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper said that Washington and its partners are working on options of responce to an “unprecedented attack”, in order to defend the “rule-based order”, which is being undermined by Iran.
2 Russia — Turkey — Iran
Russia, Turkey and Iran agreed to take measures in order to protect the civilians and the military personnel of the guarantor countries in the Idlib DMZ, in Syria. This was stated in a joint statement after the Ankara summit on the settlement of the Syrian conflict. The leaders of the three countries expressed serious concern about the increasing presence of the terrorist organization ‘Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’ in the DMZ. They also confirmed their determination to continue their cooperation for the final elimination of the terrorist groups such as ‘Jabhat al-Nusra’ and all other terrorist groups, associated with al-Qaida, or ISIS. In their joint statement, the leaders of the three countries announced that Russia, Turkey and Iran are committed to Syrian “sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity”. They called the Israeli military attacks on Syria a «violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity» of Syria.
3 Tajikistan — Kyrgyzstan
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan handed a note of protest to the Ambassador of Tajikistan in the republic due to the escalation of the situation at the border — the press service of the ministry reports. The document actively protests «the illegal actions of the border troops of the State Committee for the National Security of Tajikistan, which fired at the Kyrgyz border posts ‘Maksat’ and ‘Sai’ ». As a result of the shelling, 1 border guard was killed, another 7 were injured. «This incident was the result of the construction by Tajikistan a military observation post on an indescribable section of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border. The construction was started without a coordination with Kyrgyzstan, and the Tajik military is fully responsible for the escalation of the situation in the border regions» — the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry concluded.
4 Israel T
he second round of the parliamentary elections has started in Israel. The composition of the Knesset of the 22nd convocation will be determined after these elections, as well as the government coalition, and the appointment of the prime minister. More than 6 million people will be able to take part in the elections. The elections were re-scheduled due to the fact that the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after the elections on 9th of April, couldn’t agree in 42 days on the creation of a coalition that would control the minimum necessary 61 seats in the Knesset. As a result — the head of the government initiated a law on the dissolution of the highest legislative body exactly one month after the oath of the deputies. Repeated elections were then planned for 17th of September
