Fights between Armenia and Azerbaijan

1 Azerbaijan

Due to the current escalation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijan announced a partial mobilization. Such order was signed by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. The document was published on the presidential website. «Guided by the Clause 25, Article 109 of the Constitution, I declare a partial mobilization in the Republic of Azerbaijan» — the order stated. Earlier on Sunday, the Azerbaijani authorities announced that a martial law will be introduced all over the country from 28th of September. Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic also declared a martial law and a general mobilization.

2 Armenia — Azerbaijan

Armenia and Azerbaijan have accused each other of using the terrorists from Syria in the battles. The Armenian Ambassador to Russia, Vardan Toganyan, stated in an interview to the RIA NEWS that Turkey sent about 4,000 terrorists from Syria to Azerbaijan. “They are already on the other side. They are trained in the terrorist camps and transferred from there” — the ambassador added. Azerbaijan rejected such accusations. “The rumors about the transfer of terrorists from Syria to Azerbaijan is a provocation by Armenia, and a complete nonsense” — said Hikmet Hajiyev, the head of the foreign policy department of the Azerbaijani presidential administration — the ‘Reuters’ quoted his words. The head of the press service of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, Colonel Vagif Dargahli, stated that the mercenaries from Syria and the Middle East are fighting on the side of Armenia. According to him, there are many casualties among the mercenaries. «Since they are not officially listed in Armenia — the enemy can easily hide those losses» — the ‘RIA NEWS’ quoted the head of the press service of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.

3 Turkey

The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated during a speech in Istanbul, which was broadcast by the NTV, that it is necessary to end the crisis in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. «Azerbaijan has waited 30 years to resolve this problem. Now they are doing it on their own. The immediate liberation of the Azerbaijani lands, occupied by Armenia, will open the way for the establishment of peace and stability in the region. The crisis in the region, which began with the occupation of the Nagorno-Karabakh region, must end» — Erdogan concluded. Earlier on Sunday, the Turkish President announced his support for Azerbaijan in the conflict with Armenia. On Sunday, the Turkish national defense minister, Hulusi Akar, issued a call on Armenia to «immediately stop the aggression against Azerbaijan».

4 Russia

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Andrei Rudenko, announced that Russia calls on all external and internal parties of the conflict to show maximum restraint on the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. «We call on all external and internal parties to show the maximum restraint, including the rhetoric. It is important right now to be as careful as possible in order to reach a swift ceasefire, and return the parties to the negotiating table» — Andrei Rudenko explained and added that «Russia, being the co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, has been actively participating in this process since 1991. We intend to continue the negotiations with all the partners».

5 Syria

On Saturday, the Syrian Foreign Minister, Walid Muallem, announced while speaking at the general political debate of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly that Syria condemns the crimes, committed on its territory by the Western coalition. Among such crimes he named «the seizure of oil, attacks on the populated areas, the destruction of buildings and infrastructure». Walid Muallem added that «the constant illegal presence and actions of the American and Turkish forces on the Syrian soil constitute as an illegal occupation. Syria will do everything possible to end this occupation, by using all means under the international law» — said Walid Muallem. He added that Turkey continues to support the ‘Jebhat al-Nusra’ terrorist group that operates in Syria. «They are the main sponsor of the terrorists in Syria, and in the region. They have facilitated the transfer of tens of thousands of foreign terrorists to Syria. They continue to provide all forms of support to the ‘Jabhat al-Nusra’ and other terrorist groups that are killing Syrians in cold blood» — Valid Muallem concluded.
