IAEA mission in Zaporozhye
13 rescuers were killed in the DPR — their group came under a targeted fire from Ukrainian radicals in the Krasnolimansky area, in the village of Rubtsi. 9 people were injured. Donetsk is under Ukrainian fire as well. 3 mines were cut off the grid, over 40 miners are trapped underground. A gas pipeline was damaged in the Kievsky district of the city of Donetsk. In the Kirovsky district of the city, 2 people were killed, 1 was injured. The town of Enerhodar is under fire as well — the Ukrainian forces fired 60 shells. 3 locals died, 1 was wounded.
The IAEA mission has arrived in Zaporozhye. The team includes the representatives from 10 countries — Albania, Jordan, Italy, China, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, Serbia, North Macedonia, and France. The delegation is being headed by IAEA Director-General, Rafael Grossi. The mission will assess the physical damage to the station, and then determine the operability of the safety and security systems. The specialists will assess the working conditions of the local personnel, and take urgent measures to ensure the safety of the nuclear power station. The press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, stated that the representatives of the organization will enter the area via the Ukrainian-controlled zone.
The Polish Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, stated that there is a split in the EU due to the situation in Ukraine. The split can lead to an internal explosion. «There are people in the EU who are trying to convince the politicians and the public that the conflict in Ukraine can be ended, so everything can go back to business as usual” — he explained — «The threat of an internal explosion does exist. Thus, it is important to maintain a dialogue between us, in order to find compromises and a common denominator» — the newspaper ’Figaro’ quoted Mateusz Morawiecki. Earlier, the former Foreign Minister of Finland, Erkki Tuomioja, stated that the idea of Vladimir Zelensky to stop issuing visas to the Russian citizens could cause a split in the EU.
«Moscow has decided to not export the oil to states that supported the idea of a fixed price, imposed by the West, on Russia. The Russian suppliers won’t work on the external sites on non-market conditions» — the Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Alexander Novak, stated and added that Moscow refuses to supply oil and oil products to those countries that have set a ceiling on the energy prices. Non-market conditions aren’t suitable for the Russian companies. Alexander Novak underlined that the imposition of a price ceiling on the Russian oil will have an extremely negative impact on the world market. The oil industry will face destabilization. Earlier it became known that at the moment the entire G7 are discussing the introduction of a price ceiling to keep the rise of the oil prices, and to limit the Russian income.
Urban skirmishes took place in the center of Baghdad between the Iraqi servicemen and armed militants — the AFP reported on 30th of August while citing their source in the medical services. At least 23 armed militants and demonstrators were killed. There is no information about the casualties among the servicemen and the police. In the cities of Kirkuk, Samarra, and several other places similar skirmishes are taking place as well. The militants use grenade launchers, mortars, large-caliber small arms, and makeshift rockets. cirmishes took place in the city of Basra, in south of Iraq, between the local militants and the pro-Iranian militia ’Hashd al-Shaabi’ — the ’Al-Sumariya’ reported on 30th of August. The fighting took place near the Italian bridge, in the center of Basra. The exact number of people, injured in the clashes, has’t been reported. During the fighting, the militants captured and burned the local militia HQ. The militants also took control of the city’s port, and the government building of the Basra province.
