The relocation of the US military from Germany to Poland can be an effective solution due to the increased threats to the EU — the Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Chaputovic announced. “We are cooperating with the US within the framework of our agreement on the increased presence of the American troops in Poland. This is very important both for our own security, and for the security of the region. We spoke about an arrival of another 1,000 soldiers to our country. It will increase the contingent from 4,500 to 5,500» — TASS quotes Jacek Chaputović. Earlier, the US ambassador to Berlin, Richard Grenell, mentioned possible transfer of a part of the US military from Germany to Poland. He attributed this possibility to the Chancellor Angela Merkel’s reluctance to raise the NATO military spending up to 2% of their GDP, by the request of Washington. Germany expressed an opinion that if the US want to pull their troops from Germany — they will have to take their nuclear weapons with them.
