Jonathan Conricus, an IDF spokesman, stated during a briefing to the foreign journalists that on Wednesday night, the IDF fighters attacked 8 targets of the Iranian special forces ‘Al-Quds’ from the ‘Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps’ stationed in Syria, as well as the Syrian air defense systems. The missile strike was a response to the installation of several IEDs near the Alpha line between Israel and Syria in the Golan Heights, on Tuesday. The missile strikes were carried out on a military base where an HQ of the Iranian forces in Syria was located, inside the Damascus international airport. It was a secret military facility that served as a meeting point for the Iranian delegations upon their arrival in Syria, and the 7th Division of Syrian Forces, which is in charge of the Syrian Golan Heights. The missile strikes targeted the Syrian air defense missile systems, including advanced systems, that fired at Israeli aircraft. The IDF spokesman noted that «the purpose of the operation is to deliver a clear message that Israel won’t allow an Iranian consolidation in Syria, and Israel won’t tolerate the fact that Syria contributes to such consolidation».
