The UN General Assembly supported the resolution, introduced by the Ukrainian delegation, on the «militarization of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, as well as the regions of the Black and Azov Seas.» 66 states voted ‘for’ the Ukrainian resolution. 19 voted ‘against’. 72 abstained from voting. The document expresses «serious concern about the on-going militarization of Crimea by Russia», and also condemns «the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait» and «Russian growing military presence in the Black and Azov Seas, including the Kerch Strait, and the restriction of international shipping».
Japan adopted a new program of enhancement of their national defense for the next 10 years. The implementation of the program will need significant funding, TASS reports. As it was noted in the program’s regulations, published by the Japanese Ministry of Defense on Tuesday, it is planned to spend $ 238 billions of dollars in the first 5 years of the program. In particular, Japan intends to continue their work on the creation of the first Japanese aircraft carrier based on Izumo helicopter carrier, and to acquire 18 F-35B fighter jets, with the goal of placing them on the new aircraft carrier. In the next 10 years, Japan intends to deploy 2 ground-based ‘Aegis Ashore’ missile defense systems. The program also underlines the need for the strategic rivalry with China and Russia.

The Russian parliament made a law that considers the foreign NGOs that intervene in the elections on the territory of Russia as ‘undesirable’, Interfax reports. The law provides a possibility of recognizing the activity of foreign or international non-governmental organizations as undesirable in Russia if they promote — or hinder — the nomination of candidates, lists of candidates, the election of registered candidates, the initiative to hold a referendum and a referendum itself, attempts to achieve a certain result in elections, referendums, and so on.
