Military base of Turkey in Azerbaijan
1 Armenia — Russia
The press service of the Armenian Defense Ministry reported that during the recent telephone conversations, the heads of the Armenian and Russian Defense Ministries, Vagharshak Harutyunyan and Sergei Shoigu, discussed the deployment of Russian border guards on the border with Azerbaijan in the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions of Armenia. It was reported that the heads of the defense ministries discussed ways of resolving the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. «Harutyunyan noted that the position of Armenia remains the same — Azerbaijani forces must leave the territory of Armenia without any preconditions» — the message stated.
2 Azerbaijan — Turkey
The Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan stated that it is possible to build a Turkish military base in Azerbaijan within the framework of the Shusha agreement, signed by the two countries. Erdogan added that the main goal is to ensure the security of the borders. Tayyip Erdogan noted that the negotiations that Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin will hold between themselves, as well as the negotiations in which Turkey will participate, can discuss this matter as well. The declaration, signed on Tuesday in the city of Shusha mentions that Azerbaijan and Turkey will act jointly in case of a threat from a third state.
3 Russia — The USA
The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, announced that the Russian ambassador to the USA, Anatoly Antonov, will return to Washington in the coming days. Dmitry Peskov noted that the matter of the functioning of diplomatic missions was discussed between the presidents of Russia and the USA. According to Dmitry Peskov, this is a complicated matter, and it’s a subject for contacts at the working level. The Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, stated that Anatoly Antonov will return to Washington on the next week.
4 Russia — The NATO
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated that at the June 14th summit, the NATO used a destructive approach towards Russia. The so-called ’dual approach’ — containment and dialogue. Maria Zakharova noted that threats of the NATO to use the collective defense in case of a Russian attack in space makes the security situation worse. It also complicates the «prospect of reaching a universal agreements» in this matter. Maria Zakharova added that Moscow hopes that the new strategic concept of the NATO will reflect the current state of affairs, and not the fantasies of some NATO countries.
5 Russia — the EU
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated that the reports from the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, and from the European Commission on the EU policy regarding the relations with Russia are ideological. The strategy of the EU doesn’t bring the prospect of normalizing the interaction between Russia and the EU. She added that the accusations that Russia could threaten the interests and integrity of the EU are baseless.
6 The Netherlands
The hearings on the crash of a Boeing airplane in Ukraine back in July of 2014 have have resumed in the Netherlands. On the last week, a Dutch court released intercepted records of the rebel conversations in the eastern Ukraine. The records indicate that a Ukrainian fighter jet shot down the Boeing airplane. Immediately after that, the rebels shot down the Ukrainian fighter jet with an AA missile system ’BUK’. Despite the records, the Dutch prosecutor’s office continues to insist that there were no Ukrainian military aircraft in the area of the Boeing crashsite. It was reported that the Dutch prosecutor’s office has attached the findings of the ’Almaz-Antey’ company, based on photos and reports about the MH17 crash site.
