Missile strike on Syria

The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, stated that the USA had warned Russia about the recent missile strike on Syria a few minutes before it happened.

“Our military was warned 4 or 5 minutes in advance. Naturally, when it comes to the deconflicting, which is customary in the relations between the Russian and American military personnel, such notification doesn’t mean anything when the missile strike is already happening” — the Foreign Minister explained.

He reminded that the USA sent their troops to Syria illegally, which means that the USA violate the norms of the international law, including the UN Security Council resolution on the resolution of the situation in the country.

The Pentagon reported that the missile strike against the pro-Iranian Shiia groups in Syria was a response to the recent attacks on the US military in Iraq. According to the American command — several facilities were destroyed as a result.

The ’Al Arabiya’ TV reported that during the recent missile attack in eastern Syria, the US Air Force hit a convoy of Shiia militias after the convoy crossed the Syrian-Iraqi border near the ’Al Qaim’ checkpoint. The airstrike, reportedly, killed 22 fighters from the Iraqi Shiia militia group ’Al-Hashd al-Shaabi’ and the ’Kataib Hezbollah’ brigade. Their troops are fighting on the side of Syria against the ’ISIS’.
