Pakistan won’t provide military bases to the USA


1 Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense reported about an arrest of an Armenian serviceman. He added that the countries around Afghanistan that benefit from the US presence «will now have to make difficult decisions about protecting their interests.»

4 Pakistan

The Pakistani Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, stated that Pakistan won’t provide military bases on their territory to the USA during the pulling of the foreign troops from Afghanistan. Such was his statement on the information from ’The New York Times’ that negotiations are underway between Washington and Islamabad on the matter of providing the US intelligence services with a base to monitor the situation in Afghanistan, and conduct counter-terrorist operations. He added that Pakistan should take into account its own interests.

5 The USA — Ukraine

The White House National Security Council stated that on Monday Ukraine misunderstood Joe Biden’s words about the idea of Ukraine joining the NATO after a telephone conversation between the presidents of the two countries. Earlier, Ukraine stated that Joe Biden «underlined the importance of providing Ukraine with an action plan for the NATO membership». The message was later corrected. Now it says that «Zelenskiy noted the importance of providing Ukraine with an action plan for the NATO membership». Zelensky stated that the fact that his office corrected the text of the statement after the conversation with Joe Biden is insignificant.

6 Russia — Germany — France

The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the Foreign Ministers of Russia, Germany and France — Sergei Lavrov, Heiko Maas and Jean-Yves Le Drian — agreed during a telephone conversation that there is no alternative to the Minsk agreements. Sergei Lavrov stated that the Ukrainian attempts to revise the set of measures made to implement the Minsk agreements, as well as the decisions of the Normandy summit in December of 2019 in Paris, are unacceptable.
