Power failure at the Zaporozhye NPP

The town of Lisichansk was hit with US-made MLRS during this week — the LPR representatives reported. A woman in the DPR city of Gorlovka was killed. Her 2 children were injured. The Ukrainian forces used the NATO artillery and MLRS. A local electric substation was cut off the grid, 10 nearby villages are left without electricity. A local man near the village of Yasinovataya was killed. The city of Donetsk was attacked as well. A strong fire in a local shopping center, caused by a direct hit by a Ukrainian shell, was extinguished on 25th of August. The security systems at the Zaporozhye NPP went off after a power failure — the head of administration of the town of Energodar, Alexander Volga, reported. According to the preliminary data, there was a short circuit, caused by the Ukrainian attacks, which led to a massive fire on fields and a forest. The local energy system was severely damaged.

The power from the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant is no longer being delivered to the Kiev-controlled areas, since the Ukrainian forces cut off the last transmission line on 25th of August. Currently the energy is being supplied only to the liberated areas of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions — Vladimir Rogov reported. There are only 4 power lines leading towards the Ukrainian-controlled territories. 3 of them were destroyed due to the on-going intense fighting in the area. Vladimir Rogov noted that «on 25th of August, the last, 4th line was destroyed. The physical means to transfer the energy to the right bank of the Dnieper river is gone» — he explained. Rogov specified that several times the workers from the liberated regions tried to repair those power lines, but it became too dangerous today. According to him, the situation around the NPP is «being controlled. The electricity is being generated, and it is being delivered directly to the liberated territories of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions».

On 23rd of August, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with the head of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon. The presidents discussed the further development of the Russian-Tajik relations. They also discussed the preparations for the upcoming summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization — the Kremlin’s press service reported. The summit will be held from 15th to 16th of September, in the city of Samarkand. Iran might be accepted as a member of the SCO. Currently Iran is interacting with the organization as an observer. During the summit, the head of Iran will sign a memorandum of commitment. Currently the members of the organization are Russia, India, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In addition to Iran — Afghanistan, Belarus, and Mongolia have the status of observers.

The Iraqi Air Force carried out several air attacks in several regions of Iraq. The ’’Kurdistan 24’’ reported, while citing the spokesman for the Iraqi Air Force Command, Major-general Tashin al-Hafaji, that the military intelligence had discovered some hideouts of the ISIS in the province of Anbar. The air attacks on the identified targets were carried out by the Iraqi F-16s. «According to the confirmed data from the intelligence agency — the Iraqi Air Force destroyed the shelters to the west from the city of Rutba, in the province of Anbar» — Tashin al-Hafaji stated. The exact number of the killed terrorists is still unknown.

The US forces reported that they were able to inflict casualties on the pro-Iranian Shia Muslim militias in Syria. The ’Al-Hadath’ reported while citing a statement from the US Army Central Command that on 25th of August there were attacks on the pro-Iranian bases in the Syrian province of Deir ez-Zor. The decision to strike was made in accordance with the order of Joe Biden, made in a response to the shelling of the American facilities in Syria.
