Provocations in Syria. Chemical attack of the ‘White Helmets’

1 Syria

The Syrian Army Command reported that «the Syrian army liberated a number of settlements at the south of the Idlib province, including the city of Maarret-en-Nuuman, from the terrorists». It was also reported that the Syrian army liberated 14 villages around that city.

2 Syria

The news website «Al Masdar» reports that after the liberation of the city of Maarret-en-Nuuman, the Syrian army continues to advance in the province of Idlib. According to the »Al Masdar» — the front-line units of the 25th Special Forces Division are 13 km away from the town of Sarakib, which is located on the ‘Latakia-Aleppo’ highway, and near the town of Erichi. The settlements are under control of the ‘Jebhat al-Nusra’ terrorist group. The location of the settlements allows to ‘cover’ the passage to the administrative center of the Idlib province. The Syrian army was forced to leave this area back in 2015.

3 Syria

The Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria published a video of the interrogation of a captured terrorist who witnessed the preparation of a new provocation of the White Helmets. The terrorist named Abu Hamza was tasked to guard a warehouse in the city of Kafr Hamra. He said that the other day he saw how «people from the civil defense» — namely the «White Helmets» — arrived at the warehouse. “I don’t know what was stored in there. Some time ago people arrived in a minibus and loaded some boxes with grey containers, and some boxes with parts of rockets and shells into the minibus. They also took filming equipment” — Abu Hamza said. Earlier the head of the Russian center for the reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria, Yuri Borenkov, announced that the terrorists and their allied White Helmets are preparing a provocation with toxic substances in Syria. They plan to blame the Syrian authorities.

4 Turkey

The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Russia of not fulfilling the ‘Astana agreements’. He stated that the patience of Turkey is «running thin». «There is no ‘Astana process’ by now. It suppressed itself, or maybe it was muted. We, Russia, and Iran, need to figure out what needs to be done in order to resume the process» — the NTV quoted Erdogan. The Russian Foreign Ministry responded that «Russia is committed to the strict implementation of the taken commitments.»

5 the USA

The US Embassy in Denmark made a post on Twitter stating that the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz was «liberated» by the American forces. The Russian Embassy in the US called that post «a shameless rewriting of the history». Despite the criticism from the Twitter users, the US diplomatic mission did not correct the post. A similar mistake was made earlier by the German newspaper »Der Spiegel», which published a post on Twitter stating that the Auschwitz concentration camp was, allegedly, liberated by the US military, not the Red Army.

6 Russia

On Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov announced that the main problem of the restoration of the peaceful life in Syria is the actions of the US State Department, which «doesn’t disdain from anything while implementing the most severe sanctions that block any food, medical, clothing and financial assistance to the actually innocent Syrians that were freed from the terrorists in their own country».
