1 Syria

The chairman of the Syrian People’s Council, Hammud Sabag, announced at a press conference in Damascus, which was broadcast by the ’Al Ekhbariya’ TV, that the current Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, won with 95.1% of votes in the presidential elections, which took place on 26th of May. It was noted that the voter turnout was 78%. Over 14 million citizens took part in the elections. The citizens of Syria celebrated the results of the presidential elections with large-scale festivities.

2 Azerbaijan — Armenia

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported that on Friday night, some positions of the Azerbaijani troops in Nakhichevan were shelled by the Armenian troops. One soldier was wounded as a result of the shelling. The Armenian Defense Ministry denied the Azerbaijani statement about the shelling. The ministry added that the statement is ’’completely fake». The Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a speech at a meeting at the HQ of his political party «Civil Contract» that the Azerbaijani authorities, and some opposition forces within Armenia, want to start a war.

3 Switzerland

A special session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva adopted a resolution calling for the establishment of an independent international commission to investigate the human rights violations during the recent Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in particular in Gaza. The resolution was introduced by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Palestinian delegation to the UN. The Israeli Foreign Ministry rejected the resolution. The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, called the resolution a «shameful decision», and «a mockery of the international law.»

4 Switzerland

The ’Hamas’ has welcomed the UN Human Rights Council resolution that calls for the establishment of a commission to investigate the human rights violations on the Palestinian territories during the recent Israeli-Palestinian conflict, especially in Gaza — the ’Reuters’ reported. The Hamas officials stated that their actions during the recent conflict with Israel were «legitimate resistance».

5 The USA — Russia

The USA notified Russia about the decision to not return to the ’Open Skies Treaty’. At the same time, Washington once again accused Moscow of violating the treaty. The US State Department stated that “the USA regret that the ’Open Skies Treaty’ has been undermined by the Russian violations. After completing the review of the treaty, the USA don’t intend to return to the treaty, given that Russia hasn’t taken any actions to return to its compliance». The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, stated that Moscow regrets the decision of the USA to not return to the ’Open Skies Treaty’.

6 The USA

The ’Defense News’ reported that the US Navy, with the participation of contractors, conducted the first tests of a new hypersonic missile engine, on Thursday. It was noted that the tests have become an important stage in the improvement of the non-nuclear weaponry of the US Navy and Ground Forces, which are developing hypersonic weapons. During a press release it was stated that the US Navy mentioned that the successful test of a solid-propellant missile engine is an important milestone for the next stage with the participation of the Navy and the army during the flight tests, which will take place in 2022.
