The official representative of the Armenian Defense Ministry, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, reported on Facebook that on Thursday morning the Azerbaijani troops shelled the cities of Shusha and Martuni, in Nagorno-Karabakh. «Early in the morning the enemy resumed the shelling of the peaceful settlements of Artsakh. They fired at Martuni and Shusha from heavy artillery pieces» — the message concluded.
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry denied the reports of shelling of the settlements in the combat zone in Karabakh. «The Armenian reports about the alleged resumption of the shelling of the cities of Hojavend and Shusha by the Azerbaijani army is fake. The Armenian Foreign Minister, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, stated during a briefing in the parliament that a meeting of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, and the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, organized for the potential negotiations on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is currently not planned. «I can’t say that a meeting between Pashinyan and Aliyev is currently planned» — Mnatsakanyan explained.
The Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated during an interview with the Spanish news agency ‘EFE’ that Armenia didn’t provide any specifics during the negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh. «Armenia doesn’t say anything solid about the compromises, only about their own self-determination. Their self-determination isn’t their compromise» — the ‘AzerTag’ news agency quoted Aliyev. In his opinion, Armenia should be more precise in their position. Aliyev noted that for this reason, starting from the first days of the active clashes, Baku demanded from Armenia a schedule of the retreat of their troops from Karabakh and the nearby areas. Aliyev also stated that he sees no point in meeting with the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan. According to him, over the past two years, all the meetings with Pashinyan, except the first few meetings, were «useless and meaningless».
