Summit on Syria
1 Russia — Turkey — Iran
The presidents of Russia, Turkey and Iran made a joint statement after a video-summit on Wednesday. It was reported that the parties noted their strong commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity, and the territorial integrity of Syria. These principles are subject to the universal adherence. No actions, no matter from whom, should undermine them. Putin, Rouhani and Erdogan condemned the illegal seizure of the oil fields and the oil revenue, which should belong to Syria. The parties rejected all attempts to create new realities «on the ground» in Syria under the pre-text of fighting the terrorism. They also underlined that the Israeli military attacks in Syria violate the sovereignty of Syria, and they escalate the tension in the region.
2 The USA — Iran
The US Special Envoy for Iran, Brian Hook, stated during an interview to the Israeli ‘Channel 13’ that Washington is considering a possible use of military force in order to prevent Iran from acquiring the nuclear weapons. He added that the US exit from the ‘Joint Comprehensive Action Plan’ was the right decision.
3 Iran
19 people died, 24 were injured in an explosion in a medical clinic in the north of Tehran on Tuesday evening. “As a result of the incident, 24 people were injured, 9 were hospitalized” — the ‘ISNA’ news agency quoted the official representative of the Iranian Emergency Organization, Mojtaba Khaledi. The Iranian authorities called a possible cause of the incident to be a gas leak and a fire, which caused an explosion of the oxygen tanks.
4 India
The NDTV reported that during a terrorist attack on a police patrol in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir at the north of India, 1 Indian military policeman and 1 civilian were killed. 3 military police officers were injured. The incident took place near the city of Sopor, in the district of Baramulla. The terrorists opened fire on the patrol, and then fled the scene. The military police began a search operation.
5 China
The Hong Kong law enforcement’s press service reported that the police continue to crack down on the anti-government protests. More than 300 people were detained. «Among them are 5 men and 4 women suspected of violation of the new ‘Hong Kong national security’ law» — the report specified. Thousands of protesters gathered in the Causeway Bay and Wanchai districts. They protested the adoption of the ‘Hong Kong National Security Act’ by the Chinese Parliament. The demonstrators scattered and set fire to debris on the roadway. They also tried to block the road traffic. Acts of vandalism were recorded as well. The police used tear gas, rubber bullets, and water cannons to disperse the crowd. One of the policemen was injured with a sharp object.
6 Ethiopia
The ‘Reuters’ reported that at least 50 people died in the Ethiopian state of Oromia during the riots that took place after the murder of a musician and a political activist Haakaalu Hundessa. It was reported that both the demonstrators and the police officers died in the event. The protests began on the morning of 30th of June — they were followed by riots and clashes with the police. The demonstrators burned car tires, and they chanted anti-government slogans. It was reported that 3 explosions took place in the capital of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa.
