Syria. An explosion in the Hama province
1 Syria
The ‘SANA’ news agency reported that a land mine exploded near the settlement of Al-Hamra, in the north-east of the Syrian province of Hama. It was reported that 1 civilian was killed, 15 were injured. According to the SANA — the mine was planted by the terrorists. No other details were reported.
2 Syria
The TASS reported while citing the commander of a Russian military police battalion, Aydinbek Abdulaev, that a Russian military police unit had patrolled and checked the observation posts in the Golan Heights, in the Syrian province of Al-Quneitra. Possible provocations of the illegal armed groups, and Israel, are being monitored from those posts on the heights. It was noted that the presence of the Russian and Syrian military on that territory is necessary, since various incidents occasionally take place in that area.
3 Iraq
The ‘Sky News Arabia’ TV reported that 2 rockets hit the airport of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. No casualties or damage were reported. At the moment there is no information about who is behind the attack. Earlier on Saturday, the Al Arabiya TV reported that 4 rockets fell near the US diplomatic mission in Baghdad’s green zone. Nobody was hurt as a result of that incident.
4 Turkey — Russia
The Turkish Foreign Ministry reported that on Monday a Turkish delegation went to Moscow on a two-day visit for the negotiations on Libya and Syria. The visit will take place from 31st of August to 1st of September. The Turkish delegation at the negotiations is being headed by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkey, Sedat Onal. ‘A Haber’ TV reported that the delegation also includes representatives from the Ministry of National Defense and representatives from the National Intelligence Organization. The previous inter-agency consultations between Russia and Turkey on the settlement in Libya took place on 21st and 22nd of July in Ankara.
5 India — China
The Indian Ministry of Defense reported that the Indian soldiers stopped the actions of the Chinese troops, which carried out «provocative movements», aimed to change the status quo in the border area with India. “On the night of 29th to 30th of August, the Chinese troops violated the previous consensus, reached during the military and diplomatic negotiations on the ongoing standoff in the Eastern Ladakh. Their forces carried out provocative movements in order to change the status quo. The Indian troops prevented that activity of the Chinese troops on the southern shore of the Lake Pangong Tso, took measures to enhance our positions, and stopped the Chinese intentions to one-sidedly change the situation on the ground» — said the Indian Ministry of Defense. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Zhao Lijian, denied such information. «The Chinese border guards always strictly adhere to the line of the de-facto control, and they never crossed it» — he announced and added that the commander of the Chinese Western Military District, Senior-Colonel Zhang Shuili, stated that on 31st of August the Indian military undermined the consensus, reached in the previous multi-level negotiations between the two sides. «They illegally crossed the line of control in the area of the southern shore of the Lake Pangong Tso and the Zhichin Pass, which caused tensions at the border» — end of quote.
6 Afghanistan
The Afghan television channel 1TV reported while citing the police that the senior adviser to the President of Afghanistan on the public affairs, Mohammad Hasan Hotak, was killed in Kabul. He was killed on Sunday evening near his own home. The President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani, publicly condemned the murder, and called it a terrorist act.
