Syria. Provocations of the terrorists

1 Syria

The newspaper »Al Watan» reported that on Sunday a convoy of US troops — several dozen military vehicles — crossed the border with Iraq, and entered the Syrian province of Hasakah. According to the »Al Watan» — the convoy consisted of 41 vehicles loaded with weapons and equipment for the logistical support of the American contingent. The US Army vehicles crossed the Iraqi-Syrian border via the ‘Al-waleed’ checkpoint, and headed to the American base in the city of Al-Shaddadi. The »Al Watan» noted that the USA have increased the speed of the transfer of their forces to the north of Syria from Iraq, after the Pentagon announced the reduction of the US forces in Iraq down to 3,000 troops by the end of September.

2 Syria

The deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in Syria, Rear-Admiral Alexander Grinkevich, stated that the terrorists of the »Hayat Tahrir al-Sham» group are preparing provocations by using poisonous substances in the southern part of the Idlib DMZ. Alexander Grinkevich underlined that «according to our information — the terrorists are planning to film fake scenes, with the involvement of the reporters from the foreign media, near the area of Jebel ez-Zawiya. Their goal is to spread the footage on the Internet, and create publications in the Middle Eastern and Western mass media, with accusations against the government forces of Syria regarding their alleged use of chemical weapons against the civilians». The Center called on the commanders of the illegal armed groups to abandon the provocations, and take the path of a peaceful settlement of the situation in the areas under their control.

3 Lebanon

The Lebanese national news agency »NNA» reported that a strong explosion took place in the Golan Heights, near the Syrian-Israeli border. «Residents of some settlements in the Marjayoun district, in south of Lebanon, heard a big explosion. Smoke was seen in the occupied Golan Heights» — the report specified. It was reported that «the sounds of heavy artillery were heard as well». Sounds of firing machine and sub-machine guns were heard near the Israeli border positions, in the occupied Lebanese territory. The Golan Heights is the intersection of the borders of Israel, Syria and Lebanon. It is considered to be an area of a high tension.

4 Iran — the USA

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Said Khatibzadeh, called the report of the American newspaper ‘Politico’ regarding the consideration of an assassination of the US ambassador to South Africa by Tehran to be «baseless». «Those baseless accusations are part of the informational campaign of the Donald Trump administration against Iran» — the press service of the Iranian Foreign Ministry quoted Khatibzadeh. He added that «such methods, which are likely to be reused in the future, will no doubt remain ineffective, and they will be added to the long list of Washington’s failures in the confrontation with Iran». Earlier on Sunday, the ‘Politico’ reported while citing the US intelligence officials that the Iranian authorities were considering to organize an assassination attempt on the American ambassador to South Africa, Lana Marks, in a response to the assassination of Qasema Suleimani, the ex-commander of the Al-Quds — the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. It was reported that a possible assassination attempt has been known to the US intelligence agencies since spring. However, during the past few weeks, more specific information has emerged about the assassination.

5. Yemen

The »Al Arabiya» TV reported that on Sunday, the forces of the Arabian coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, destroyed 4 UAVs of the ‘Ansar Allah’ Yemeni rebel movement. The UAVs were destroyed on an airbase to the north from the Yemeni capital, Sana’a. The coalition also attacked other ‘Ansar Allah’ targets in the Yemeni capital. Earlier on Saturday, the Arabian coalition launched 9 airstrikes against the military engineering camp, and the HQ of the Ansar Allah national security department in the Yemeni capital.
