The allied forces of Russia and the DPR storm the fortified area near Avdeevka

1 Donbass

The high command of the Russian and the DPR forces are trying to break through the Ukrainian defense line near the town of Avdeevka — one of the most fortified sections of the front line. The Russian artillery and aircraft are hitting the Ukrainian positions — a reporter of the newspaper ’Izvestia’ reported from the scene. The intense strikes against the Ukrainian positions began on 27th of July, with the artillery of the 1st DPR Army Corps and the Russian air force. The fortifications near Avdeevka were built for the last 8 years. The Ukrainian artillery that carries out the shelling of Donetsk is concentrated in that fortified area. The main goal of the operation is to stop the artillery strikes on the capital of the DPR.

2 Donbass

«On 13:40, the Ukrainian forces shelled the settlement of Vodyanoe and the Kuybyshevsky district of the city of Donetsk. Five 152mm shells were fired» — the DPR representative office in the Joint Center for the Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire reported on their Telegram channel. The DPR’s Representation in the Center reported on 28th of July about 18 shellings of districts of Donetsk by the Ukrainian forces. They used 155mm NATO artillery and MLRS ’’Grad’’ — the RIA NEWS reported.

3 The Sea of Azov

«During the special operation, Russia gained the control over the Sea of Azov» — the commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Igor Osipov, stated during his speech towards servicemen and veterans a day before the Navy Day. «The combat activities of the Black Sea Fleet during the special military operation made it possible to gain the dominance over the enemy in the Sea of Azov, and to establish control over the north-west of the Black Sea» — he stated. Igor Osipov added that the warships and the aircraft of the Black See fleet use precision weapons to destroy the critical targets in Ukraine, which helps the Russian ground forces. According to him, the Russian Black Sea fleet is successfully fulfilling the combat missions of the special military operation, thus proudly continuing the work of the winners of the Great Patriotic War.

4 Ukraine

The Russian Ministry of Defense showed some footage of activities of the Russian combat engineers from the Western Military District in the liberated territories of the Kharkov region. The footage was published by the ministry on 28th of July. «The combat engineers arrive by the requests of the locals to demine roads, household areas, and farmlands. Upon their arrival, they conduct an engineering scouting of the area, to assess the situation. After that, the demining team proceeds to clear the area from the explosive objects, left by the Ukrainian forces’’ — the ministry explained.

5 Italy

The Italian newspaper «La Stampa» reported that the ex-Minister of the Interior Affairs of Italy, Matteo Salvini, called on the West to have a dialogue with Russia in order to resolve the crisis in Ukraine and Europe. He believes that the EU needs contacts with Russia, regardless of the political beliefs and the position on the situation in Ukraine — the RT reported. Matteo Salvini explained that Italy is proud of allies from the free democratic Western countries. This doesn’t mean that Italy doesn’t want good relations with Vladimir Putin. «Unlike some other European countries that behave agressively — I prefer the dialogue and mediation of Italy» — he explained.

6 North Korea

The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un, threatened to use nuclear weapons in case of a war with the USA and South Korea. «The North Korean forces are fully prepared for any crisis» — Kim stated on 28th of July, during the celebration of the 69-year-old ceasefire, made to end the Korean War — the state-run mass-media reported. «Our Nuclear Deterrent Forces are ready to mobilize all their absolute power properly, accurately, and promptly, in accordance with their mission» — the KCNA news agency quoted his words. Kim mentioned the unconditional readiness of North Korea to deal with any military confrontation against the USA. Kim also criticized the new South Korean president, Yoon Suk-yeol, who took a hard line on North Korea, and hinted at the possibility of a pre-emptive strike against North Korea. Kim threatened to destroy the South Korean government and their military if North Korea gets attacked. North Korea has conducted many weapons tests since early 2022. ICBM tests took place as well. The USA and South Korea often express their fear that North Korea is preparing a nuclear test. Joint military exercises of the USA and South Korea took place on this week.
