The fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh continues

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, stated during an interview to the Turkish TV channel »Haber Global» that the agreements on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, which were reached in Moscow, fully meet the interests of Azerbaijan. According to Aliyev — «All the opportunities for the transition from the military stage to the political and diplomatic stage of the Karabakh conflict settlement exist right now». He added that «Turkey must play an active role in the political settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict». Ilham Aliyev also announced the capture of a number of settlements in Karabakh by the Azerbaijani army. «Several settlements are under our complete control. The main adviser of the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the ex-Minister of Defense of Armenia Lieutenant-General Vagharshak Harutyunyan, stated that the Azerbaijani authorities are disrupting the Russian mediation mission in the Nagorno-Karabakh under the pressure from Turkey. «Fierce battles are currently taking place in Artsakh, despite the agreement on a ceasefire for the humanitarian purposes, which was adopted in Moscow with Russian help. This means that Ankara is putting pressure on the Azerbaijani authorities in every possible way, which forces them to disrupt the mediation mission of Russia in order to increase the role of Turkey in the settlement of the conflict» — the adviser concluded.
During a joint press conference with the Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that the resumption of the negotiation process between the parties of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh can’t be delayed. «We understand that a proper process is needed. But we also consider it wrong to delay the resumption of the political negotiation process as well» — Lavrov explained and added that Russia expects that the agreements, adopted after the negotiations between the foreign ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia regarding the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, will be strictly implemented by both sides.
The head of the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, Vagif Dargahli, denied the Armenian reports about an Azerbaijani Su-25 attack aircraft that was, allegedly, shot down in Nagorno-Karabakh. «The combat aviation of Azerbaijan is not being used. We fully adhere to the requirements of the humanitarian truce» — Vagif Dargahli stated. The decision was made by the president due to the fact that the parliament didn’t consider the issue of the previously introduced state of emergency in the capital within 3 days.
