The fights near Shushi continue
1 Nagorno-Karabakh
The United Armenian Information Center under the Cabinet of Ministers of Armenia reported while citing the State Emergency Situations Service that on Monday night, the Azerbaijani troops shelled the capital of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, the city of Stepanakert, with cluster munitions. Earlier the press secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, Shushan Stepanyan, reported on Facebook that on Sunday night, the Azerbaijani troops attacked Stepanakert with rockets. It was reported that on Sunday, 2 Azerbaijani UAVs were shot down to the north-west from Stepanakert.
2 Nagorno-Karabakh
The press secretary of the Armenian Defense Ministry, Shushan Stepanyan, reported on Facebook that the fighting near the town of Shusha in Nagorno-Karabakh continues. Stepanyan added that the Defense Army of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic «successfully fulfills the tasks, and stops the enemy initiative». Earlier on Sunday, the Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev stated in his address to the nation that the Azerbaijani troops took control of the city of Shusha. The official representative of the Armenian Defense Ministry, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, denied that statement. He announced that «the fighting in Shusha continues». Intense fighting was reported near the town of Martuni as well.
3 Nagorno-Karabakh
The official representative of the Armenian Defense Ministry, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, reported on Facebook that the Azerbaijani troops tried to attack the positions of the defense army of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic near the towns of Martuni, Martakert, and Tagavard, but their attacks were repelled. «In addition to Shusha, the fighting takes place in other sectors as well. The enemy attacks were repelled near Martuni, Martakert, Tagavard, and in other places» — the message stated. Earlier Hovhannisyan reported that the defense army of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is currently destroying a group of Azerbaijani troops in the village of Karintak, near the strategically important city of Shusha. «An enemy group was spotted near Karintak. The group being destroyed by rocket and artillery strikes. The enemy suffers big losses» — the message concluded.
4 Turkey
The ‘CNN Turk’ TV reported with a reference to their Turkish diplomatic sources that the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan proposed to the Russian President Vladimir Putin to make a joint group to resolve the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the ‘CNN Turk’ — Erdogan suggested this idea during his telephone conversations with Putin on 7th of November. The ‘CNN Turk’ claimed that the work in this format could begin in the near future. An alternative platform for the negotiations outside of the OSCE Minsk Group could appear as the result. The ‘CNN Turk’ added that Azerbaijan will stop its advance «after the victory in Shusha», after which the negotiations will begin. According to the ‘CNN Turk’ — «Armenia will eventually leave 7 regions».
5 Azerbaijan
The Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated during an interview with the ‘BBC’ that Azerbaijan could consider to ask Turkey for a military aid in case of an aggression. «A certain document was signed between us — it provides a military assistance from Turkey in case of an aggression. In a sense, we have the same agreement as Armenia and Russia. If Azerbaijan faces an aggression, and sees the need for a military aid from Turkey — then we will consider such option» — Aliyev explained, his words were quoted by the ‘AzerTAG’ news agency. Aliyev added that if the situation continues to develop in the current direction — there will be no reason to ask Turkey for help.
