The head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced his resignation
On Tuesday, the UN Security Council, by the request from the US, will hold an open meeting on the situation in Venezuela, a diplomatic source in the UN said. “Tomorrow there will be an open briefing of the Security Council by the request from the United States” — TASS quotes their source. It is still unknown if the draft resolution on Venezuela will be submitted by Washington at all. The document has already been prepared however — the resolution calls for the presidential elections in Venezuela. Currently the draft resolution is on the stage of the expert consultations. It hasn’t been submitted to the UN Security Council yet. Moscow, in response, prepared its own draft resolution. It calls for a dialogue between the government and the opposition, mediated by the regional countries.
The Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, who had a key role during the negotiations with the international community on the Iranian nuclear program, announced that he’s leaving his post of the head of the Iranian foreign ministry. Iranian Foreign Ministry officials don’t know the possible reasons of his resignation — said his assistant, Abbas Mousavi. It is assumed that parliamentarians will discuss his resignation during a meeting on Tuesday. The head of the Iranian presidential administration, Mahmoud Vaezi, said that Hassan Rouhani hasn’t accepted his resignation yet.
On Tuesday, the leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un, arrived in Hanoi for the summit with the US President Donald Trump — TASS reports. The final preparations for the meeting on 27th and 28th of February are currently being completed in the city. The first meeting of the leaders of the two countries was held on 12th of June during last year in Singapore. After that, Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un signed a joint document in which Pyongyang promised to denuclearize itself in exchange for security guarantees from Washington. The second summit of the leaders of the United States and the DPRK is expected to have more certain agreements on the specific steps by both countries to resolve the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
The head of the Batkivshchyna political party, and the presidential candidate of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko, announced that she is starting the impeachment procedure on the current president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko — TASS reports. «We are announcing the start of the impeachment of the president together with other political factions that support us» — she said on Tuesday, in the Ukrainian parliament. Yulia Tymoshenko added that recently the journalists published an investigation from which it became clear that Petro Poroshenko and his entourage were involved in the smuggling of the spare parts for the Ukrainian army from Russia, at high prices. “We believe that their committed actions fall under the Article 111 of the Criminal Code — treason,” Yulia Tymoshenko concluded.
The Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal investigation after a bus with civilians hit a landmine on the separation lawn of the N-20 highway in Donbass, on 23rd of February. On that day, on the highway Slavyansk — Donetsk — Mariupol, right in front of the DPR checkpoint “Elenovka”, there was an explosion of a bus with passengers onboard. As a result — the driver died on the spot, 2 other passengers, a 85 years old woman and a 59 years old man were injured. Later, the elderly woman died — the website of the Russian Investigative Committee reported. The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee continues to keep the records of the criminal acts of the Ukrainian army against the civilians in Donbas. Mostly — the shelling with heavy artillery or small arms, and laying of the landmines.
Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko signed a decree that prohibits the Russian representatives from participation in the elections in Ukraine as observers. “The new law changes the laws “On the election of the President of Ukraine”, “On the election of parliamentarians of Ukraine”, and “On the local elections”. «These laws determine that a person from a foreign state and international organization, who is a citizen of a state, recognized by the Supreme Council of Ukraine as an aggressor state or an invader state, can’t be an official observer» — says the decree published on the website of Petro Poroshenko. The law takes effect the day after the publication.
