The Syrian army liberated Kafr Nobul city

1 Syria

The news agency ‘SANA’ reports that the Syrian army liberated the city of Kafr Nobul, in the south of Idlib province, in which there was a terrorist outpost of the Jebhat al-Nusra group. The government forces are carrying out an operation aimed to clear the residential areas from the hostiles, and demine the streets. According to the ‘SANA’ — during the assault on the city, the government troops used intensive rocket-artillery fire at the enemy positions. The terrorists suffered substantial losses, and retreated to the north from the city.

The Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and Africa, the Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov stated that Russia is counting on the positive results of the talks on the Syrian Idlib, which will start in Turkey. Earlier, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that a Russian delegation would arrive in Ankara on Wednesday for a round of talks on Idlib. He underlined that Turkey did not get a satisfactory result from the negotiations with Russia on the Syrian Idlib, and Turkey is ready for the start of a military operation in that region.

3 Turkey

The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced, while speaking to the parliamentary faction of the ruling »Justice and Development Party» that if the Syrian forces won’t back down from the Turkish observation posts in Idlib by the end of February — Turkey intends to push them back. “According to the Sochi memorandum — the forces of the Syrian regime should move to the borders outside our observation posts. If those forces won’t retreat — we will liberate this territory” — Erdogan explained. The Turkish President confirmed that Ankara sent a request to the USA for the supply of the ‘Patriot’ air defense systems. There is still no answer from Washington.

During the opening of the exhibition «White Helmets: Supporters of Terrorists and Sources of Disinformation», organized by the Democracy Research Fund and the Russian Peace Foundation, the chairman of the Russian Historical Society, the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, said that the ‘White Helmets’ are funded by the Western intelligence agencies, and they carry out an information war against the Syrian people. He noted that the information from the book «White Helmets: Supporters of Terrorists and Sources of Disinformation», which presented more than 100 interviews with the former employees of the organization, citizens of Syria, and eyewitnesses of those events, was used during the preparation of the exhibition.

The ‘NDTV’ reported that the death toll from the riots in the Indian capital New Delhi has reached 20 people. According to the ‘NDTV’ — more than 150 people were injured. There are children among the victims. Clashes began in New Delhi, on Monday, between the groups of radically-minded youth who are in favor, or against the new controversial citizenship law. The participants threw stones and sticks at each other, had skirmishes with each other and with the police. There were gun firing reports. A number of mass media sources reported that the military may be brought into the Indian capital if the police can’t deal with the situation.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadim Pristayko announced that ‘the Norman 4’ countries plan to hold a meeting at the level of foreign ministers a month before the summit of the «Norman format». Vadim Pristayko specified that the meeting of the Foreign Ministers «can take place when a certain progress is visible, which is our reason to gather». The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Russia hasn’t received any information about the plans to hold a meeting of the ‘Norman 4’ foreign ministers a month before the summit. Sergei Lavrov underlined that Russia is ready to discuss the holding of a new “Norman Summit” only after all the decisions of the December meeting of the leaders in Paris are implemented.
