The Syrian military stopped an American convoy in Hasakah || Спецпроект 19.12.2021

The Syrian troops stopped a convoy of American MaxxPro armored vehicles near the settlement of Tel Tamr, in the Hasakah province — the Syrian news agency SANA reported. The Americans tried to negotiate with the Syrians. The negotiations came to nothing. The convoy was forced to turn around and go back.

Earlier, the Syrian troops also stopped the Americans near of the city of Qamishli, on 14th of December. A large convoy of armored vehicles and APCs was stopped by the Syrian military. After some negotiations, the convoy had to change the route twice.

Such incidents do not always end peacefully and without casualties. On August 17, in 2020, the Syrian troops stopped an American convoy at a checkpoint near the settlement of Tel Zahib, north of the Hasakah province.

The negotiations ended badly. The Syrian troops fired into the air, and accidentally lightly wounded one American serviceman. The Americans quickly left the area, but a few minutes later the checkpoint came under fire from an AH-64 ’’Apache’’ attack helicopter. The strike killed 1 Syrian soldier. 2 were injured.

Despite the statements from the American authorities about the pulling of their military from Syria, some American troops are still in the country. They support the Kurdish-Arab forces from the «Syrian Democratic Forces», and they control the oil fields in the provinces of Raqqa, Hasakah, and Deir ez-Zor.
