The Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a missile attack on the bridge in Kherson // Some people were killed

1 Russia — Ukraine The Ukrainian forces fired 12 missiles at the crossing in Kherson. 11 missiles were shot down by the Russian air defense forces. 1 missile exploded near the Antonovsky bridge — the TASS reported. 10 employees of the regional TV channel «Tavria» were wounded. 1 journalist and 3 relatives of ’’Tavria’’ employees died — said Alexander Malkevich, a member of the Russian Public Chamber — he is currently working in the Kherson region. «1 journalist was killed. Another 3 dead are relatives of the ’’Tavria’’ employees. 10 employees of the TV channel were injured» — Alexander Malkevich stated and added that 5 more people received minor injuries and shell shock during the shelling. «1 person is in the intensive care. 2 people are in a serious but stable condition. Basically, everyone has shrapnel wounds» — he explained. The head of the government of the Kherson region, Sergei Eliseev, stated that judging by the wounds — the US made HIMARS rockets with cluster warheads were used in the attack.

2 Russia — Ukraine «The Russian Air Force attacked an important target in Kharkov» — the ’Donbass Today’ reported. The western wing of the Kharkov factory ’Kommunar’ was destroyed during an air attack. The components of the anti-ship missiles ’Neptune’ were assembled in those workshops. The military reporters from the Telegram channel ’’Rubar’’ noted that the factory had 18 missiles that were ready for their transfer to the ’Motor Sich’ factory. The journalists presented 2 photos with a map of the factory’s area, as well as the impact areas.

3 Ukraine The Ukrainian newspaper «Strana.UA» reported that an air alert had been announced all over Ukraine. Since the start of the last week, the Russian forces are performing long-range precision attacks on the Ukrainian facilities, related to the military command and control, communications, and energy systems. The most massive attack took place from 10th to 11th of October. On 10th of October, during a meeting with the permanent members of the Security Council, Vladimir Putin stated that it was a response to the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge, organized by Ukraine, and for the other attacks against the civilian facilities in Russia. On 18th of October Vladimir Zelensky stated that 30% of power plants in Ukraine had been destroyed.

4 Belgium The EU leaders have gathered for a 2-day summit in Brussels. They failed to agree on a natural gas price ceiling. During the debate they agreed to conduct studies to determine the possible impact of the gas price cap. The point of imposing a price cap was supposed to be a sanction against Russia, made to cut the financial revenues from the gas trade. The authorities of a number of EU countries have realized that it won’t work so simply. At the worst case — the EU may find new problems, even worse than those that the EU has right now. Among the EU’s 27 countries, 15 of them, including France, Italy, Spain and Belgium, are calling for the price caps on imported natural gas. Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and other countries don’t support this idea. Countries, opposed to the capping of gas prices, insist that such move can deprive the EU of natural gas, especially during the winter. The EU energy ministers will meet on 25th of October in order to discuss the new measures and caps on gas prices.

5 Turkey The USA gave a warning to the businessmen regarding the trade deals with Russia — the ’Dünya’ newspaper reported while citing their sources in Ankara. It was clarified that back in June, non-governmental organizations have already sent a letter on this issue. Supposedly the West is unhappy with the «acceleration of the trade with Russia via Turkey» — the RIA NEWS reported. «The delegation that met with the businessmen gave a warning that various sanctions could be imposed on those who work with the companies that have 75% of Russian capital and Russian oligarchs» — the newspaper reported. Ankara has allowed parallel imports to Russia since March. Many Russian companies have opened their representative offices in Turkey. The number of such offices for 8 months of 2022 has increased by 4 times compared to the same period of 2021.

6 The EU The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, stated during a press conference after the EU summit in Brussels that the EU should consider using the frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine. «We have to look at the frozen assets and their possible use for the reconstruction of Ukraine and aid to Ukraine» — he stated.
