The Ukrainian forces attempted to break into the territory of the DPR
A group of Ukrainian servicemen tried to enter the DPR from the town of Makeevka — the TASS reported while citing their source in the DPR forces. «They are trying to break through the encirclement. The DPR forces, supported by the Russian forces, are doing everything possible to suppress the enemy, and to not let them escape the encirclement» — the TASS quoted their source. On 17th of June the parking lot of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the DPR, located in Kievsky district, was hit with an artillery shell during a massive shelling of Donetsk. Lots of Western-made 155mm shells hit the city and started fires. The locals are reporting about power and internet outages. The mountain rescue HQ, located in the city center, was hit and burned down with their special equipment.
Andrey Marochko, a lieutenant-colonel of the People’s Militia of the LPR, stated that some Ukrainian servicemen, located at the chemical factory ’’Azot’’, in Severodonetsk, are ready to lay down their weapons. «Some Ukrainian servicemen, located at the chemical factory ’’Azot’’, in the city of Severodonetsk, made the right decision and began to surrender» — he reported. Andrei Marochko explained that for the security reasons, the DPR authorities do not disclose the number of the Ukrainian servicemen who have surrendered, or the name of their units. According to the ministry of internal affairs of the LPR — some foreign mercenaries are also hiding in the factory.
Igor Konashenkov, the representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, stated that the main flow of foreign mercenaries is coming to Ukraine from Poland, Canada, and the USA. «Among the European countries, the absolute leader in the number of both the arrived and the dead mercenaries is Poland. Since the start of the special military operation, 1,831 people have arrived in Ukraine from Poland, of which 378 have already been killed. 272 mercenaries have gone back to their homeland. Poland is followed by Romania. 504 have arrived, 102 are dead, and 98 went back. The UK is on the 3rd place. 422 have arrived. 101 are dead. 95 went back» — the lieutenant general reported.
4 The UK — Ukraine
The UK will supply ’’M-109’’ SPGs, previously purchased from Belgium, to Ukraine — the UK’s defense minister, Ben Wallace, reported. According to him, the UK bought more than 20 SPGs from a private Belgian company, with the following repairs and the transfer of the SPGs to Ukraine. «We are deploying more than 20 155mm SPGs that we purchased from the global market. We have repaired them, and they are starting to arrive to Ukraine. Those SPGs have a much longer range than the other, 152mm SPGs» — Ben Wallace reported. According to some reports, during the repair on the SPGs, the engine-transmission parts were replaced with spare parts of the 1971 models. Earlier, the Belgian leadership stated the impossibility of supplying the SPGs to Ukraine since the private company ’OIP’ raised the price.
5 Slovakia — Ukraine
Slovakia donated military helicopters and rockets for the MLRS ’’BM-21 Grad’’ to the Ukrainian forces — the Minister of Defense of Slovakia, Yaroslav Nagy, reported on Twitter. “Slovakia donated 4 Mi-17 helicopters, 1 Mi-2 helicopter, and some rockets for MLRS ’Grad’ to Ukraine. The delivery was approved by the government. After the transfer, the military aid is being used by the Ukrainian forces” — the message stated. Europe had to pay for such “gifts”. According to the Minister of Defense of Slovakia, the «European Peace Foundation» was behind the payment for the military aid. According to him, the transferred helicopters were no longer in service in Slovakia. Previously, they were replaced by American helicopters UH-60M «Black Hawk».
Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, warned the Western countries against sending long-range heavy weapons to Ukraine. He hopes that the Western military will understand the consequences of supplying heavy weapons to Ukraine. The MANPADS ’’Stinger’’ and ATGMs ’’Javelin’’, given to Ukraine some while ago, are already available on the black market in Ukraine and on the Balkans. «Those weapons ended up in Albania and Kosovo. This is well known, and those weapons are sold at a discount. The process of entering of the black market is underway» — he explained. Sergey Lavrov’s statements were made in parallel with the visit of the leaders of France, Germany, Italy and Romania, to Kiev.
