The Ukrainian forces inflicted a massive shelling on the LPR

The LPR People’s Militia reported that on 18th of February the Ukrainian troops carried out a massive shelling of the LPR settlements in order to evacuate their dead and wounded saboteurs that were trying to get closer to the positions of the People’s Militia near the village of Golubovskoye. The Ukrainian troops stopped the shelling of the village after the arrival of the observers from the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in the area — an official representative of the People’s Militia, Yakov Osadchy, stated. As a result of the shelling — 1 civilian of the LPR was seriously injured — he was taken to the Kirov city hospital. On the same day, a serviceman of the LPR died during the shelling of the village of Berezovskoye.

The provocation of the Ukrainian military on 18th of February, near the village of Golubovskoye, was made to disrupt a meeting of the UN Security Council that discussed the matters of the implementation of the Minsk agreements, made to end the conflict in Donbass, by Ukraine. The head of the LPR People’s Militia Department, Yan Leshchenko, said during a briefing. He added that «the second goal, equally important, like all the similar Ukrainian provocations, was to shift the attention of the Ukrainian citizens from the internal problems to the situation in the south-east of the country.»

On the morning of 18th of February, from 7 to 9 in the morning, the Ukrainian 59th brigade shelled the village of Zaitsevo with mortars. As a result of the shelling, the buildings at 101, 103, 104, 107 and 109 ‘Karbysheva Street’ were severely damaged. The locals that were inside the houses at the moment of the shelling managed to hide in the basements.

On 19th of February the Ukrainian troops shelled the village of Elenovka, located to the south-west from the city of Donetsk, with a mortar. A residential building was damaged — the representative office of the DPR in the Joint Center for the Monitoring and Coordination of the Ceasefire reported. The Ukrainian troops also shelled the north-west of the city of Donetsk. More than 50 mortar and grenade launcher shells were used. The information about the victims and the scale of destruction is being specified.

«The proposal of the Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on the joint patrol in Donbass should be discussed with the LPR and the DPR. So far Kiev hasn’t shown any willingness for a dialogue» — the spokesman for the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, stated. During his speech at the Munich Security Conference, the Ukrainian president proposed joint patrolling of the Russian border in Donbass, with the participation of the OSCE representatives, and together with the DPR and the LPR. The patrolling will take place during the preparation of local elections in the region.

‘A new summit of the «Norman Four» will be possible only after the implementation of the current agreements’ — the Russian Foreign Ministry announced.
