During an emergency summit, the leaders of 28 EU countries chose the candidates the for key European posts. Ursula von der Lyayen received the post of the head of the European Commission. The post of the German Minister of Defense will be occupied by the chairman of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer. Previously, she took that post from the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel.
2 Russia — Georgia
Russia will consider a possible cancelation of the economic measures against Georgia, including the ban on the air travel, after the elimination of the security threats to the Russians — the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced. According to him — Moscow hopes that «the Georgian authorities will be able to stabilize the socio-political situation in the country, and eliminate the existing threats to the safety of Russians» — TASS reports. “If such thing happens — it’ll create the necessary conditions to consider the possibility of the cancelation of the precautionary measures taken by Russia, including the ban on the air transportation to Georgia” — the Russian Foreign Minister explained. He also noted that the relations between the Georgian authorities and the Georgian opposition are an internal issue of the country, and Russia isn’t going to interfere in that process.
3 Sudan
The Transitional Military Council of Sudan, and the opposition alliance «For Freedom and Change» have reached a political agreement, aimed to resolve the situation in the country — the ‘Sky News Arabia’ TV channel reported. The agreement, reached by the military authorities and the Sudanese opposition, includes transitional clauses. But it doesn’t affect the Constitutional Declaration. The parties agreed that they will continue to discuss this issue as soon as possible — TASS reports. During the negotiations in the early July, the Sudanese Military Council and the Sudanese opposition agreed to establish a governing body in the country for the transitional period, until the elections.
4 Ukraine
Roman Truba, the director of the State Investigation Bureau of Ukraine, reported that his department started 11 criminal cases against the ex-president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and some other high-ranking officials — RIA NEWS reports. Petro Poroshenko is involved in the criminal cases related to the abuse of power and the official position during the distribution of the posts in the «Center-Energo» company, as well as in the case of a treason due to the incident in the Kerch Strait, and the usurpation of the judiciary, and the illegal seizure of the TV channel «Pryamoii», and on the falsification of documents during the formation of the parliamentary factions in 2016, and in the illegal appointment of the government, as well as the seizure of power. Today, Petro Poroshenko was summoned for questioning as a witness in a case of the possible tax evasion and legalization of income in the amount of $300 millions of dollars during the sale of the »Kuznya Rybalsky» factory. The former head of the state didn’t come to the state investigation bureau.
