This is a special program from the ’ANNA NEWS’. I am Constantine Reztsov.

The USA agreed on the consultations on the renewal of an international nuclear agreement with Iran. The US State Department spokesman Ned Price stated that the US officials would discuss the issue with European, Russian and Chinese partners.

Consultations on the agreement from 2015 will continue in Vienna, on Tuesday, during face-to-face meetings of the representatives of the countries that participate in the JCPOA, including the USA.

A direct meeting of the US and Iranian envoys isn’t planned.

The representatives from Iran, China, Russia, France, Germany and the UK attended an online meeting of the Joint Commission that took place on 2nd of April. The meeting was chaired by the EU External Relations Service Representative for the Policy matters, Enrique Mora.

The head of the Iranian delegation, Abbas Arakchi, announced the Iranian position on the nuclear deal of 2015. He stated that the lifting of the US sanctions is the first step needed for the restoration of the JCPOA. Iran will end the nuclear compensating measures as soon as Iran is convinced that the sanctions are lifted.

On Thursday, the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani answered the question of who should be the first to renew the obligations of the JCPOA. He stated that Tehran will continue to fulfill all the obligations under the JCPOA as soon as the USA return to their obligations.

He noted that over the past 3 years the agreement was held only at the expense of Iran, which didn’t leave its execution as soon as the USA left the deal.

The ’joint comprehensive plan of action to limit the Iranian nuclear program’ was signed in 2015 between Iran and a group of countries in the 5+1 format. The plan was approved by the UN Security Council Resolution number 2231. The USA one-sidedly left the treaty in 2018, under Donald Trump, and then imposed massive economic sanctions against Iran.

Since the remaining European parties didn’t fulfill their obligations under the agreement, and didn’t compensate for the restrictions, imposed by Washington — Iran began to slowly reduce the implementation of their obligations under the nuclear deal since May of 2019.
