For the first time in several days, the Russian Ministry of Defense gave an official commentary on the events that took place on the Kharkov sector of the special military operation. Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov, the spokesman of the Russian Ministry of Defense, commented about the events to the ’TASS’.
«In order to achieve the goals of the Special military operation, a decision was made to regroup our forces, located near the towns of Balakleya and Izyum, in order to build up the efforts in the Donetsk sector» — Igor Konashenkov explained, and added that over the past 3 days, an operation had been carried out to curtail and redeploy the troops from the Izyum and Balakleya areas to the territory of the DPR.
During this time, the Russian forces disabled more than 100 units of armored vehicles and artillery. «In order to prevent damage to the Russian forces — strong strikes were inflicted on the enemy by using aviation, missile and artillery forces» — Igor Konashenkov concluded.
The city of Krasny Liman is being attacked by the Ukrainian forces that are trying to take the strategic city by storm. The fighting for the city continues — the Russian military reporter Yevgeny Poddubny reported on 10th of September.
«The battle for Liman continues. Our spirit is high. The enemy has been stopped for now» — he reported on his Telegram channel. Earlier, he commented on the situation in the Kharkov sector. According to him — if the pro-Russian forces stationed in Izyum would have gotten surrounded — that would be a catastrophe. From a military point of view, the withdrawal of troops from the city is the right decision.
«This episode was tragic and bitter. But it is an episode of the global confrontation. Everyone must keep it together, not only those who are now working in the Special Military Operation zone.
