It was noted that the Syrian troops managed to move even closer to the city of Eriha, which is located on the highway between the city of Serakib and the mountain pass Jisr-es-Sugur, towards Latakia.

The Iranian ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, during a meeting with the chairman of the Russian Committee of the Federal Council on the Foreign Affairs — Konstantin Kosachev — said that during a telephone conversation, the president of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, invited the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, to hold the next summit in the ‘Astana format’ in Iran. The conversation between the presidents of the two countries took place a few days ago. The Iranian ambassador underlined the success of the Astana format, and he urged the participants to «stick to this format, and continue the cooperation within the framework.»

The Kremlin’s press service announced that on 5th of March the Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to “discuss the Syrian settlement while taking into account the current escalation in the Idlib de-escalation zone” with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who will pay a working visit to Russia. Dmitry Peskov said that Russia believes that Moscow and Ankara are able to minimize the risk of a mutual confrontation between the armed forces in Idlib. Dmitry Peskov added that the meeting of the presidents of Russia, Turkey and Iran — Vladimir Putin, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hassan Rouhani — are being considered, but the schedules of the presidents have not yet been agreed upon.

The spokesman of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, said that Russia rejects the allegations against the Russian troops, written in the report of the independent UN commission, made to investigate the human rights violations in Syria.
