Turkish strike on the Kurdish position in Syria
1 Syria
The Syrian State Broadcasting Agency reported that a Turkish Air Force drone attacked a position of the Syrian Democratic Forces near the city of Qamishli, in the Hasakah province. «A Turkish UAV attacked one of the SDF HQs, located near the old power plant in the settlement of Tel Zivan, in the suburbs of the city of Qamyshli. Some people were wounded as a result of the airstrike» — the news agency reported.
2 Syria
The SANA news agency reported that after a Turkish shelling of the Al-Mahatta district of the city of Al-Qamishli, in the Hasakah province, two local residents were injured. The residential buildings of the Al-Mahatta district were fired upon by mortars on Monday morning. The local infrastructure took some damage as well.
3. Syria
«The elections to the People’s Council of the Republic, which is the supreme legislative body of Syria, have ended» — the Chairman of the Syrian Supreme Judicial Committee, Samer Zemreik, announced on Sunday evening — the ‘Al Ekhbariya’ TV quoted his words. It was reported that the elections have passed without significant violations. The Syrian Prime Minister, Hussein Arnus, underlined that the holding of the parliamentary elections «was a great political victory for Damascus. It showed that Syria is moving towards its revival, and towards the final victory over the terrorists». The SANA news agency reported that the Syrian Supreme Judicial Committee for the Elections has decided to re-run the People’s Council elections at 5 polling stations in the city of Aleppo, near the city, and in the province of Deir ez-Zor. A spokesman for the Supreme Judicial Committee for Elections, Nuri Al-Fares, explained that «this decision was made due to the discrepancy between the ballots in the ballot boxes and the electoral documentation at the polling stations». It was reported that the results will be announced after the delivery of all the ballots to the electoral commission center, and after the ballots have been counted.
4 Iran
The ‘Fars’ news agency reported that the Iranian authorities have executed a man accused of spying for the CIA, and for giving secret data to the Israeli foreign intelligence service ‘Mossad’. The agency noted that Mahmoud Mousavi Majd passed to the CIA and to the Israeli intelligence Mossad, as well as the Saudi special services, the data on the personnel, weaponry, and the communications systems of the Iranian troops stationed in Syria. The Iranian state-run TV and radio company ‘IRIB’ reported that Mahmoud Mousavi Majd transmitted information about the security personel of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to the USA. The IRIB didn’t specify when it took place. The agency also didn’t name the source of this information. On 9th of July the Iranian Supreme Court spokesman, Gholam Hossein Ismaili, announced that the Iranian authorities had sentenced the defendant to death for the espionage and for providing the foreign intelligence services with the information on the location of General Qasem Soleimani. Later, the judicial authorities came out with an explanation that the activities of the accused man were not directly related to the death of the Iranian commander back in January 2020 when he was killed with a missile strike by the US Armed Forces.
5 Afghanistan
The ‘TOLO News’ reported that the Taliban carried out an attack in the Kunduz province, in north of Afghanistan. The attack killed at least 13 Afgan soldiers, and injured 10. The attack took place on Monday night, at an army checkpoint. An another attack took place on a highway — the TOLO NEWS added. The Taliban also suffered casualties, but the exact number of their casualties wasn’t reported.
6 Russia
Dmitry Peskov, the Press Secretary of the Russian President, stated that Russia hopes for an early settlement of the situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. “We hope that this situation will be resolved as soon as possible, and thus the emotions around the situation itself will also return to normal” — Dmitry Peskov said. He reminded that Russia called on both sides for a restraint, for an immediate return to the ceasefire, and for an end to all forms of violence. Constantine Reztsov, specially for ANNA NEWS.
