Ukrainian troops shelled the outskirts of Gorlovka

A day before 23rd of February, the Ukrainian troops shelled the outer areas of the town of Gorlovka. The village of the “mine 6/7” has been at the front line since 2014, and it is constantly under attacks from Ukraine. On the night of February 23rd to 24th, Ukrainian troops from the 3rd battalion of the 24rd separate mechanized brigade wounded a civilian in the settlement of Marinka. In order to save the local — he was handed over to his relatives. The man was taken to the Donetsk hospital with a gunshot wound in his abdominal cavity. A surgery took place. Currently he is under medical care — a representative from the joint center for the control and coordination of the DPR reported.

Ukrainian troops didn’t let the OSCE patrol reach the contact line near the village of Popasnaya in order to hide the presence of heavy military equipment, deployed there in violation of the Minsk agreements. This was stated by the official representative of the People’s Militia of the LPR — Lieutenant-Colonel Andrei Marochko. Earlier, the observers from the special monitoring mission of the OSCE stated in their report that the Ukrainian troops didn’t allow the patrol of the OSCE mission to drive along the highway near the village of Popasnaya since they, the troops, were ordered to do so by their commander. «We know for sure that a large number of howitzers, mortars and tanks are concentrated in Popasnaya district» — said the representative of the people’s militia of the LPR.

The observers of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission, and the repair team of the LPR water supply company, were under fire. This was reported in the press service of the OSCE mission. “On the morning of 26th of February, the patrol of the special monitoring mission of the OSCE, consisting of 6 employees in two armored vehicles, was on the western outskirts of the settlement of Zolotoy-5, currently under the control of the LPR. The patrol monitored the security situation in the area, in order to ensure the possibility of the repair work on the water supply system» — the press service reported. 3 members of the patrol stood near the vehicles. 3 others were inside the cars. The repair work was carried out by 6 workers of the ‘Lugansk Water Supply Company’, about a 100 meters away from of observers. According to the OSCE mission — the bullets hit the tree that grew 5-10 meters away from the observers. After the incident — the members of the patrol and the workers left the area.
