1 Syria

The Syrian state-run news agency ‘SANA’ reported that on Sunday a convoy of American heavy vehicles crossed the border of Iraq and Syria, and went to the northern province of Hasakah. The convoy of 50 armored cars entered Syria via the checkpoint near the village of Al-Valid. Most of the vehicles were loaded with building materials and fuel. The convoy was escorted by several army combat SUVs. The SANA reported that all the vehicles headed to the oil region in north-east of Syria.

2 Venezuela — the USA

The Venezuelan foreign minister, Jorge Arreasa, stated that Donald Trump admitted that the US made-up an excuse for an invasion in Iraq back in 2003. Earlier Donald Trump blamed the former head of the State Department, Colin Powell, for his rhetoric, due to which the US entered into the conflicts in the Middle East. «It is a recognition by the US president that his country and the armed forces provoked a war by lying, and creating false pretenses. They killed more than a million people, destroyed the whole country. It is surely a crime against the humanity» — the Venezuelan Foreign Minister wrote on Twitter.

3 Libya — Russia

On Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Department announced that Moscow expects the authorities of Tripoli to respond as soon as possible to the Cairo peace initiative on Libya. The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, stated that Moscow considers the Cairo initiative on Libya to be the basis for a serious political process. On Saturday the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met with the commander of the Libyan National Army, Khalifa Haftar, and with the head of the House of Representatives from the eastern Libya, Akila Saleh, in Cairo. During the joint press conference, the Egyptian president announced the «Cairo initiative», which includes a ceasefire all over Libya starting from 8th of June, as well as the conditions for the political settlement.

4 Turkey

The head of the Turkish defense industry secretariat, Ismail Demir, stated during an interview to the ‘NTV’ that Russia and Turkey agreed on a possible supply a second set of S-400 air defense systems. “We have a fundamental agreement on the supply of the second set of S-400s. There is some technical work left on the technology transfer, joint production details, and a road-map» — Ismail Demir explained. Turkey intends to buy the S-400s despite the delay due to the coronavirus pandemic. Ismail Demir added that Ankara «is interested in the ‘Patriot’ and the ‘Eurosam’ air defense systems as well».

5 Japan

The «Yomiuri» newspaper reported, while citing their sources in the Japanese Foreign Ministry, that the foreign ministers of the G7 countries are developing a joint statement in which they expect Beijing to reconsider their decision to prepare a national security bill for Hong Kong. The document should urge the Chinese leadership to respect the principle of «one country — two systems», currently applied to that special administrative region of China. Japan was the initiator of the joint statement.

6 Germany

The representative of the German cabinet, Steffen Seibert, stated that the German government did not receive any official information from Washington about the plans to withdraw some of the US troops from Germany. The representative of the German Foreign Ministry, Christopher Burger, added that «there is a consensus in the government» that a close cooperation within NATO and with the USA on the security matters should continue. He added that Berlin believes that the NATO is an important part of the security for Germany and Europe. Earlier the US mass media reported that Donald Trump plans to pull out 9,500 out of 35,000 US troops from Germany. Constantine Reztsov, specially for ANNA NEWS.
