1 The DPRK

The Joint Chiefs of Staff of the South Korea confirmed the mass media reports regarding the launch of a short-range ballistic missile by the DPRK at the Sea of Japan — the South Korean news agency ’Ryonghap’ reported on 19th of October, while citing a statement from the Joint Chiefs of Staff. According to the available information — it was a ballistic missile, designed to be launched from a submarine. The missile launch in the DPRK was detected by the South Korean military at 10:17. The missile flew about 430 to 450 kilometers. The altitude at the highest point was 60 kilometers.

2 Donbass

The situation on the contact line in Donbass has escalated. Yesterday the Donetsk mechanical plant and some residential buildings in the Kuibyshevsky district of the city of Donetsk were damaged during a shelling by the Ukrainian military. Today, at morning, the Ukrainian troops resumed the shelling of the territory of the DPR. Heavy mortar fire took place in the north of Donetsk — the village of Spartak — the DPR office in the Joint Center for the Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire reported. “The Ukrainian army opened fire at 07:40, from their positions in the village of Opytnoye. Twelve 120mm mortar shells were fired at Spartak. The information about the destruction is being specified” — the DPR office reported.

The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, stated that at the ’Moscow format meeting’ on Afghanistan, Russia expects a comparison of positions, and a continuation of the dialogue between the parties. “Continuation of the dialogue, exchange of the views, comparison of the positions, and an attempt to understand what will happen in Afghanistan according to the well-known information» — Dmitry Peskov replied on the question “what does Moscow expect from the upcoming negotiations on 20th of October”.

4 Nagorno-Karabakh

The Russian peacekeepers delivered 10 tons of humanitarian aid to the city of Stepanakert, for the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh — the Russian Defense Ministry reported. A humanitarian convoy, escorted by military traffic police and peacekeepers, went from the Erebuni airfield to Yerevan, and then to the city of Stepanakert via the Lachin corridor — the TASS reported. “10 tons of humanitarian cargo from Yerevan have been delivered. Shoes, clothing, school supplies, household chemicals, gas stoves, burners — the cargo will be distributed to the refugees, large families, and internally displaced persons in Nagorno-Karabakh» — the ministry quoted a representative of the Russian peacekeeping forces, Dmitry Tusidi.

«Due to the epidemiological situation, Vladimir Putin will take part in the G20 summit in a video format» — the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, stated. The Kremlin press service reported that Vladimir Putin told to the Italian Prime Minister, Mario Dragio, that he is ready to take part in the G20 summit via a video link. «Yes, of course» — Dmitry Peskov replied to the question if Vladimir Putin’s decision to not go to Rome for the summit was made due to the epidemiological situation — the RIA NEWS reported.

6 Ecuador

The President of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, declared a state of emergency across the country and mobilized the police and military forces. Supposedly it’s related to the rise of the drug trafficking violence. On his orders, the Ecuadorian Armed Forces and the National Police began to double-check the privately owned weapons. As well as house inspections, 24/7 street patrols, drug confiscations, and other such activities. “We fully support our armed forces in their fight against the organized crime” — the president stated.
