The special group of the International Olympic Committee refused to invite 15 Russian athletes to the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, previously found innocent by a sports arbitration court. The Russian Olympic Committee submitted a list of justified athletes to the International Olympic Committee with a request to consider the issue of their invitation to Pyeongchang, but the IOC group unanimously recommended refusing the athletes. Members of the commission said that in the athletes’ case there are issues that, for various reasons, could not be investigated by Oswald commission. These questions aroused suspicion of the purity of the athletes and served as a reason for refusing to invite to the Games.
