China introduces import duties on phenol

1 China

China introduced anti-dumping duties on the imported phenol — the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced. The duties from 11.9% to 129.6% are introduced on 27th of May. The size of duties for the each specific supplier will depend on the dumping margin of the manufacturer — TASS reports. Beijing accused the suppliers from the EU, South Korea, the USA, Thailand and Japan of supplying phenol at low prices. Phenol and its variants are used in the oil refining processes, in pharmacology, and in chemical, textile and other types of industry.

2 Afghanistan

At least 10 people were injured in a bus explosion in the center of Kabul — TOLOnews reports with a reference to the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Afghanistan. It was reported that some staff members of the Ministry of the Hajj and Religion Affairs were inside the bus. Japan confirmed its intention to buy 105 fifth-generation multi-purpose combat aircraft F-35 from the US. This was announced by Donald Trump on Monday, at a press conference following a meeting held in Tokyo with the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe — TASS reports. “In 2018, Japan was one of the largest buyers of the American weapons. Now they have announced their intention to buy 105 new F-35s” — said Donald Trump. At the moment, the Japanese self-defense forces have 13 F-35s. All the aircraft are stationed at the airbase Misawa, located in the north of the main Japanese island Honshu. Earlier it was reported that Tokyo will purchase more than a 100 of F-35s from the USA, in two modifications — one for the Air Forces, and one the for carriers

5 Afghanistan

At least 4 policemen were killed on Monday night, 4 more were wounded as a result of a Taliban terrorist attack in the eastern Afghanistan — TASS reports with a reference to the Xinhua news agency. According to the Xinhua — the Taliban attacked a checkpoint in the Paktiya province.
