Georgian parliamentarians will arrive for the negotiations in Moscow

The head of the Russian Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federal Council, Konstantin Kosachev, announced that on 15th of July a meeting of the Russian representatives with the parliamentarians from the Georgian opposition political party »Alliance of the Patriots of Georgia» will take place. The meeting will discuss the relations between Moscow and Tbilisi, and their perspectives. According to Konstantin Kosachev, the meeting will be held in the building of the Federal Council. The first deputy chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federal Council Vladimir Dzhabarov will represent Russia in the meeting.

The Security and Defense Committee of the Transitional Military Council of Sudan announced that they stopped an attempted coup. According to the committee, 12 military men were involved in the attempted coup in Sudan, all of them were detained — TASS reports with a reference to the »Sky News — Arabia». The head of the committee, Lieutenant-General Jamal al-Din Omar noted that the elections are the only way for the change, and «the fight for the control over the country will be carried out through the ballot boxes, not by the military means». Jamal al-Din Omar underlined that the committee is committed to the safety of the citizens, and to the peaceful transfer of the power. A month ago, the Transitional Military Council announced the prevention of another coup.

The US House of Representatives supported the amendment to the US defense budget for 2020. The amendment provides the introduction of new sanctions on the Russian sovereign debt due to alleged Russian interference in the US presidential elections of 2016 — Interfax reports. The new amendment prohibits the US citizens to make additional transactions with the Russian sovereign debt. The amendment also provides a way to lift the new sanctions. Namely, Russia must go through one election cycle without interference, and the congress must agree that there was no interference. This week’s draft defense budget will be reviewed by the US House of Representatives. In the case of its approval by the both chambers of Congress — the project will be send to Donald Trump for his signature.

On Friday, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced that they received the first batch of components, supplied under the contract with Russia on the S-400 AA missile systems. It was clarifies that the first batch of the S-400 components was delivered to the Myurtted air base in Ankara, TASS reports. Later, the Russian Federal Service for the Military-Technical Cooperation officially confirmed the start of deliveries of the S-400s to Turkey. The contract for the supply of 4 full sets of the Russian air defense missile systems to Turkey, worth of $ 2.5 billions of dollars, was signed in December of 2017.

The international payment systems Visa and MasterCard may leave Russia due to the new requirements of the law “On the National Payment System”. On 23rd of July the Russian parliament plans to consider, during the second reading, a bill with amendments to the law ‘On the national payment system’ — the Kommersant newspaper reports. The draft law contains a clause on the obligation of the international payment systems to ensure the continuity of the card payments in Russia. This law prohibits the implementation of the international sanctions in Russia, since it makes Visa, Mastercard, China Union Pay, JCB and other similar systems to not suspend the execution of settlements on cards made by the banks that have fallen under the sanctions. Later, the press service of Visa announced that Visa International Payment System intends to ensure the smooth operation of its system in Russia.

The Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky introduced a draft law on lustration of Petro Poroshenko and the parliamentarians that held public office after 2014 to the Ukrainian Parliament. Vladimir Zelensky called the reason for the lustration to be »the abuse of his official position during the performance of his official duties, the avoidance of the responsibility for the actions aimed on own enrichment». Vladimir Zelensky also offers to lustrate all the ex-parliamentarians, the speaker of the parliament, the members of the government, the prosecutor general, the head of the security council of Ukraine, the antimonopoly committee and the state property fund, the secretary of the national security and defense council, the customs and tax authorities, and the heads of the arms industry.
