Israeli missile attack on Damascus
1 Syria
The ‘SANA’ reported that the Syrian air defenses repelled a missile attack on Damascus. The Israeli missile attack killed 3 Syrian soldiers, 1 soldier was wounded. The Syrian air defenses intercepted several missiles before they hit their targets. The SANA clarified that the attack came from the occupied Golan Heights. The IDF reported on Twitter about their missile strike on the positions of the Iranian special forces «Al-Quds» from the «Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps», and on the Syrian military. The missile strike was a response to the installation of several IEDs near the Alpha Line, between Israel and Syria, in the Golan Heights. The IDF found and defused those IEDs on Tuesday. «Warehouses, HQs, and military facilities were targeted during the strike. In addition, some Syrian AA missile systems were hit as well» — the IDF press service reported, and specified that «the found IEDs on Tuesday is an another piece of evidence of the Iranian presence in Syria».
2 Israel — Syria
Jonathan Conricus, an IDF spokesman, stated during a briefing to the foreign journalists that on Wednesday night, the IDF fighters attacked 8 targets of the Iranian special forces ‘Al-Quds’ from the ‘Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps’ stationed in Syria, as well as the Syrian air defense systems. The missile strike was a response to the installation of several IEDs near the Alpha line between Israel and Syria in the Golan Heights, on Tuesday. The missile strikes were carried out on a military base where an HQ of the Iranian forces in Syria was located, inside the Damascus international airport. It was a secret military facility that served as a meeting point for the Iranian delegations upon their arrival in Syria, and the 7th Division of Syrian Forces, which is in charge of the Syrian Golan Heights. The missile strikes targeted the Syrian air defense missile systems, including advanced systems, that fired at Israeli aircraft. The IDF spokesman noted that «the purpose of the operation is to deliver a clear message that Israel won’t allow an Iranian consolidation in Syria, and Israel won’t tolerate the fact that Syria contributes to such consolidation».
3 Turkey
The Turkish Parliament approved the sending of Turkish troops to Azerbaijan. The document was published on the database of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The decree of the Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan was supported by the MPs of the ruling ‘Justice and Development Party’, by the main oppositional ‘Republican People’s Party’, the ‘Nationalist Unity Party’, and ‘The Good Party’. The decree sends Turkish troops to Azerbaijan for 1 year. The memorandum on the establishment of a joint Russian-Turkish center for the control of the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh was signed on 11th of November, after the negotiations between the Russian and Turkish defense ministers, Sergei Shoigu and Hulusi Akar.
4 Russia
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Andrei Rudenko, stated that the possible dispatch of the Turkish military to Azerbaijan is a sovereign decision of Ankara. Andrei Rudenko added that the Turkish decision doesn’t affect the agreements between Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on the Nagorno-Karabakh region. «This is a sovereign decision of Turkey, which is, apparently, connected with the participation of the Turkish servicemen in a joint peacekeeping center with the Russian servicemen. They will be engaged in a technical monitoring of the situation, related to the implementation of the agreement» — Rudenko explained.
5 Azerbaijan
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, stated during a meeting with the new ambassador of the Netherlands in Baku that the Russian and Turkish military will participate in operations, aimed to ensure the security of Azerbaijanis and Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh. «All our neighbors have expressed their support. And two of our neighbors — Russia and Turkey — will participate in operations aimed to ensure the security of Azerbaijanis and Armenians» — the ‘AzerTAG’ news agency quoted his words.
