Riots in Kazakhstan


1 Kazakhstan

According to the preliminary data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, 13 police officers were killed and more than 350 were wounded over the past day. «13 police officers were killed. 2 of the dead officers were found headless» — the ministry reported. The EU called on the Kazakh authorities to respect the people’s right to a “peaceful protest”. Such statement was made by the EU’s foreign policy service. The protests began in the first week of 2022, in the city of Zhanaozen, in the Mangistau region. The reason was the increase in the price per liter of liquefied gas up to 120 tenge — the local currency. Previously, the price was only 60 tenge. 2 days later, clashes between protesters and the police and the military began in Almaty, and a number of other cities. Earlier, the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan reported more than a 1000 of people were wounded during the protests.

2 Kazakhstan

The police repelled an attack on the police department of the Almaly district of the city of Almaty — «Sputnik Kazakhstan» reported. The rioters were stopped. The day before they made several attempts to storm the administrative buildings of the police departments, during which dozens of people were killed. The authorities confirmed that 13 policemen were killed in clashes and shootings, and more than 350 were injured.

3 Kazakhstan

Peacekeepers from the Collective Security Treaty Organization were sent to Kazakhstan. The first military servicemen have already arrived to the country. The peacekeepers included servicemen from Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The main mission of the peacekeepers of the CSTO will be the protection of the important state and military facilities, aid to the policemen of Kazakhstan in the matter of stabilization of the situation, and returning of the situation back to the legal field. Russia will be represented by servicemen of the Airborne Forces.

4 Syria

The IDF used tanks to shell a Syrian military outpost. The attack took place in the province of Al-Quneitra. The IDF press service stated that the tanks aimed at a group of «suspicious people». Most likely the IDF fired at the fighters of the pro-Iranian Shiia groups. The «SANA News» agency reported that the IDF tanks fired several shells at the village of Al-Hurriya from the Golan Heights. There is no Information about any dead or wounded people yet.

5 Syria

The Pentagon has shown some video footage of airstrikes in the Syrian province of Deir Ez-Zor, on 4th of January, 2022. The RIA NEWS reported with a reference to the US-led International Coalition that those actions were a response to the attack on the US military installations in Syria. The «Green Village» base was, supposedly, attacked. As a result, the US military decided to attack some ’’enemy targets» that pose a threat to the US forces. The US military stated that they have successfully hit enemy launchers. It wasn’t specified who specifically attacked the US military installations in Syria. The US officials point out that the destroyed launchers posed a serious threat to both civilians and the US military. According to them, the coalition reserves the right to defend itself and partners in case of any threat. They will continue to do everything possible to protect their forces.

6 The DPRK

The North Korean official news agency reported on Thursday that the DPRK ran a successful test of a hypersonic missile. The news agency clarified that the missile hit the target. At the last stage of the flight, the warhead separated from the missile and hit the target at a distance of about 700 kilometers. The agency added that the new test «will accelerate the modernization of the strategic forces of our country» — end of quote. Constantine Reztsov, specially for the ANNA NEWS
