The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported that the fighting in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone continues at the entire frontline. It was reported that the fighting continued on 22nd and 23rd of October in the Agder, Fizuli-Hadrut-Jabrayil, and Gubadli sectors. The positions of the Azerbaijani army were shelled from small arms, mortars and cannons of the Armenian troops. «As a result of the operations, carried out by the Azerbaijani army, serious blows were inflicted on the Armenian troops in the Fizuli, Jebrail, and Gubadli sectors. Several enemy strongholds were destroyed, important territories and heights were captured» — the message on the website of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry stated.

2 Nagorno-Karabakh

The authorities of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic reported that the Azerbaijani troops shelled the villages in the Martuni region with rockets from the MLRS ‘Smerch’. It was reported that on the night of 23rd of October, as a result of a rocket attack on the city of Martakert, 2 residential buildings caugh fire. The rescuers managed to quickly extinguish the fire. «According to the preliminary data — the enemy fired at the area from the MLRS ‘Grad’. There were no casualties» — the message stated. The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry denied the reports of the shelling of settlements in Karabakh by Azerbaijani troops. «The Azerbaijani troops do not fire at civilians, while the Armenian troops have been actively shelling the settlements of the Terter, Agdam and Agjabad regions of Azerbaijan over the past day. 3 Iran

The Iranian Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, stated in an interview to the «RIA NEWS» that Tehran is closely following the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh, and Iran won’t tolerate any aggression on its borders and on its territory. «The activity in the border regions of our country is being closely monitored by Iran. In this regard, we declare any aggression from any of the conflicting parties in the region at the territory of our country to be unacceptable, and we warn them about the necessary precautions» — the ambassador stated and added that Iran is in «close contact with all parties». If necessary — appropriate measures will be taken.

4 Syria

The ‘Al Hadath’ TV reported that on Thursday, the US-led Western Coalition Air Force attacked the HQ of the ‘Jabhat al-Nusra’ extremist group in the western Syrian province of Idlib. The air strikes were carried out by UAVs. The air strikes reportedly killed at least 6 terrorist field commanders. There are wounded among the terrorists as well, but their number wasn’t reported. The HQ was located in the village of Jakara, bordering Turkey, near the town of Silkin.

5 Israel — The Gaza Strip

The IDF press service reported on Twitter that in response to the launch of two rockets at Israel — the IDF launched an airstrike on the military positions of the radical Palestinian movement ‘Hamas’ in the Gaza Strip. Earlier on Thursday, 2 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip at Israel. One of them was intercepted by the Israeli air defense system «Iron Dome», the second rocket fell in an uninhabited area. No information was reported about injuries or the damage.

6 Switzerland — Libya

The parties of the Libyan conflict signed an agreement in Geneva on a «permanent ceasefire in Libya» — the UN Support Mission in Libya reported on Facebook. The signing ceremony was broadcast live by the UN television. The document was signed by the representatives of the parties, and the acting special envoy of the UN Secretary General for Libya and the head of the UN Support Mission in Libya — Stephanie Williams. During the ceremony she stated that the agreement represents «the first extremely important step towards the settlement of the Libyan conflict». She thanked the parties for «moving forward», which made it possible to «reach a ceasefire agreement». Williams said that the ceasefire agreement in Libya does not apply to the terrorists. The document provides for the integration of armed groups into the state structures. Williams added that a joint mechanism of the parties to the conflict in Libya and the UN mission will monitor the ceasefire in Libya.
