The situation in Donbass continues to be tense

The Deputy Minister on the Information of the DPR Daniil Bezsonov told to reporters some precise data on the situation in the Republic on the New Year and the Christmas days. He said that on 1st and 2nd of January the Ukrainian troops shelled the republic at the general direction of Donetsk. They opened fire from 120 mm mortars at least 4 times. From 2nd to 3rd of January the Ukrainian troops fired at least 3 times at the cities of Gorlovka and Donetsk — they used ATGMs and large-caliber machine guns.

The Ukrainian troops continued shelling during the next day. The positions of the republic’s troops came under enemy fire twice, during 3rd and 4th of January. The troops of the LPR and DPR were strictly forbidden to violate the truce, which looks more like a one-sided silence.

The positions of the DPR troops in the Donetsk direction were shelled 3 times per day, from 4th to 5th of January. The Ukrainian troops used ATGMs and heavy machine guns. The situation began to escalate near the Christmas days. From 5th to 6th of January the Ukrainian troops opened fire in all areas of the DPR. They used mortars, ATGMs, and heavy machine guns. From 6th to 7th of January there was ceasefire.

On 6th of January, near the village of Pionerskoye, a local LPR resident was injured by an exploded Ukrainian shell — the press service of the People’s Militia Department reported. “The victim was taken to the Lugansk hospital in a serious condition. He is receiving all the necessary help” — a representative of the defense department announced.
